I scan "serial" barcode in the manual, scanner stops working as keyboard, but i do not have a new com port on my laptop. what else do i need to?

Scan the USB barcode or the one for factory defaults. You would need a different cable for serial communications.

How do I make this work with booksource?

Plug it into the USB port on your computer and scan books while in the "library" section of Booksource. If books do not scan, I use ISBN lookup site to copy and paste the ISBN into the site. Some barcodes on books are UPC and not ISBN.
