These, along with ANY almonds grown in California are by law PASTEURIZED, NOT RAW. In 2007 California passed a law that requires food processors to pasteurize almonds. This was due to a string of salmonella outbreaks in the early 2000's. The almonds are exposed to steam for 8 seconds at 210-215F. Then for 44 seconds they are moved through a high-heat dehydration tunnel to remove the moisture resulting from the steam. The circulating air temperature is 391- 395F. During this process the almonds reach 220-221F which eliminates harmful bacteria.

Are these almonds sproutable?

No! They are not.

I just ordered some of these and followed the sprouting process outlined in the link below. After 4 days of waiting and rinsing, there are no sprouts whatsoever.

I'm very disappointed. I trusted the "yes" reply from the company. I will be contacting them for a return shortly. 😞

Are these almonds processed with other tree nuts or peanuts?

Thank you for your inquiry and interest in our almonds. Although at this time our 3lb and 25lb raw (natural) nuts are packed in a facility which packs other tree nuts, wheat, milk, soy, mustard, and sesame seed products we cannot guarantee or make any claims that there aren’t any other allergens.  Additionally, our ranch only produces almonds and our policy is to prohibit all peanuts on our property. In the future this may change. If anything does change we will indicate so with a label on the packaging. We continue to monitor the latest research on allergens.
