I'm a dog trainer & 2 of my customers have lost dogs who choked on objects lodged in their airpipes. Does anyone make masks that can be used on dogs?

You can buy dog CPR masks, but I believe you would need to make an adapter in order for this to fit properly over it. I believe it would work as long as the mask fits properly and the adapter allows for an airtight seal. Someone with a 3d printer may be able to make an adapter if you can't make one.

does it have a valve or something to keep it from pushing a foreign object into the lungs?

It has a valve so when you push down you are NOT pushing the object further in the throat. The air during the compression process is released, and when you pull up, it pulls air from the throat. I have one of these. This device literally just saved a life at a local restaurant. If you practice it before you actually need to use it in an emergency, you will understand.

Step 1 for emergency use says to insert mask into unit. Shouldn't you insert the mask before you store it, so that it is ready to use immediately?

There are two mask sizes, adult and child so the one you need depends on the size of the person. If you are in a household or facility with adults only, that is a great suggestion and it would be best to store with the adult mask on the unit.

Peace of mind

Bought this when it first came out. It is like insurance, I hope I never have to use it. But I trust in the company. I looked into other knock odd options but I didn't like how some have the plunger not correct. Costco now carries these so I believe in this product if the need comes.
