This has a very pungent smell. Most similar i can think of is vingear. Is this normal?

I have the same problem! I bought 2 bottles in the last 2 weeks, one from Walgreens and one from Amazon. I put one of the iron tablets in my mouth and immediately spit it out. Felt a burning sensation when it was in my mouth and then my nose burned when I sniffed inside each of the bottles. This is very odd...I've been taking these tablets for a year or so and they've never smelled like this.

The bottle says this product is laboratory tested. Is it tested on animals?

This isn't a definite answer but, given the extremely long history of iron supplementation via ferrous sulfate, it's very unlikely they company would go to the expense of animal testing for this specific product even if they don't disavow it entirely (and I should say I have no reason to think or believe they test any of their products on animals.) It almost surely means they test the actual material they use rather than simply relying on the "general fact" of well-known chemistry that 325 mg of ferrous sulfate contains 65 mg of elemental iron.
