The description states "hand wash only" Really? and why?

Putting any of my aluminum cookware in the dishwasher is punishable by death at my house! I do not like the non-stick heavy cookware that burns everything I make in it. I cherish my aluminum cookware bakeware and I only hand wash it. once my husband put my favorite aluminum cake pan in the dishwasher and it is now trash. Things stick to it very badly and it grosses me out to even look at it.

Hi, can you flip the pan over and use the lid as serving plate?

Sure, but it will be pretty shallow. It would work great for cookies, sandwiches, and sliced cake or brownies. You could even bake cookies on the lid. It is the same material as the bottom and it is flat. A suggestion-- I gave these to my daughters and daughter-in-law last year. I took them to my jeweler and he engraved the top with "Homemade by persons name". They loved them.

Is the inside of this pan textured? I am trying to replace the one I've had for 10 years and I would like to get the same thing.

No it is not textured. I bought this to replace my pan which I had had for over 20 years. Good pan, not as good as my older one, but good replacement.
