Is this safe for leather sheaths?

Yes, as safe as any high quality vegetable oil. You could use it on your face if you wish. What is Tsubaki? Camellia oil (Tsubaki oil) is a versatile oil that can be used on the face, hair, scalp and body. It is rich in oleic acid, plant collagen and vitamins A, D and E as well as nourishing Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids.

Is there any reason this can’t be used on skin? The same oil for skin is a lot more expensive. I’m in need of lubrication as well as my hardware.

Coconut oil is less expensive and works well on pans and your skin.

Can this be used to lubricate the pivot joint on a folding knife

The oil is good for any steel knife and it’s metal parts.

Can tsubaki oil be safely used on carbon steel frypans?

There is no mention anywhere whether it can be used in frypans. Grape seed oil or avocado oil are recommended on the internet.

Great for knife maintenance

Not cheap but brilliant, light, plant-based oil for looking after your knife blades and lubing any joints, especially on wooden-handled, folding knives like Opinels. It is especially good for knives you use with food, where mineral oils might not be a great idea and it looks after carbon steel blades really well.
