Tiny, simple, and it works!
This tiny device that is shaped like a thumb drive (and looks like one, too) turns a car that is configured and equipped for wired Apple Car Play or wired Android Auto into wireless Apple Car Play or Android Auto. There is little or no set up. Turn Bluetooth and Wi-Fi on in your phone, plug the device into the same port you use for a wired connection, pair your phone with the Ottocast via Bluetooth, and <boom> you are good to go. As you can imagine the instructions are sparse, so if you run into a glitch, you are probably going to have to figure it out for yourself. I did have a glitch. I went through the process of mating the phone and the Ottocast several times, so that I was connected wirelessly through Android Auto, but when I started the car back up, the connection would be gone. My car also has a Wi-Fi node that can be connected to for internet service, but it must be used exclusive of Android Auto or Apple Car Play. My phone was set up to automatically re-connect to that Wi-Fi connection, so when the car was re-started, the phone was connecting to the Toyota Wi-Fi rather than my phone's Wi-Fi. I disabled the auto connection to the phone's Wi-Fi, and when I started back up, the phone was automatically connected to Android Auto. Although Bluetooth is used for the initial pairing and set up, the connections there after are done via Wi-Fi. So far, so good. What a convenience to get rid of the wire!

It works FANTASTIC PRODUCT - 2024 Ford Bronco
Works on 2024 Ford Bronco 100% - I tried 3 others before OTTOCAST and ALL the others failed. I was finally successful with this purchase. Easy set-up and automatically connects when I get in. All controls on steering wheel work. Fast music and phone connectivity. GPS/Google maps doesn't lag. GREAT PURCHASE!

Promising Start, but Critical Failures After Two Weeks of Use
The Ottocast Mini 2 initially delivers on its promise: plug it in once, and Wireless CarPlay launches automatically every time the car starts. Its compact, well-built design fits discreetly into the USB port, and setup took less than 10 seconds. During the first week, the connection was fast and stable—navigation apps like Apple Maps and Waze loaded without delay, and both music streaming and call quality were excellent. However, by the second week, the device began to overheat excessively—reaching dangerously high temperatures that could cause burns upon contact. Shortly after, it stopped working entirely and was no longer recognized by my Chevrolet OnStar factory radio system and my iphone.

Long Term Durability Failure
Edit (Dec 2025): Unit now overheats on longer drives. On a 5 hour trip I had to unplug it about every hour to cure audio glitching. It takes it approximately 30 min to cool each time. The right angle connector now has a short in it that causes every minor bump to disconnect it for a moment and I have to wait for everything else to reconnect. It’s not even 6 months old yet, buyer beware. Lowered one star for utter lack of longevity. Original Review: I’m not sure of the durability over the long haul. Just as my return window closed, it froze up and it took me several hours to get it to work again. While that’s the only glitch, a different (cheaper) brand I was using did the same thing right before dying completely. That said, when it works it’s good, the 90° connector and low profile size is appreciated due to the location of the port on my Voyager minivan.

Will not connect easily
This is my second android adapter. The first one was from another company. It gets three stars because it is problematic when connecting to my phone when I get in the car It will stay connected but it takes multiple trys . Very frustrating to need to keep plugging and unplugging while driving.

Works as expected
I use this in my 2019 car and it works flawlessly. It takes a few seconds for the car to recognize the device, then the Car Play screen comes right up.
