Very Satisfied
I had never heard of Nutsedge until this spring after moving into a new neighborhood last November. When mowing season came around, I noticed something in the yard that looked like grass but grew very quicklyโฆ Nutsedge. Three days after mowing, it would be 2 or 3 inches higher than the surrounding turfgrass. It was also growing in the pine needles around my shrubbery and in my monkey grass. I began pulling it out of the shrubbery beds. After about a month of this, I saw on a YouTube video that this was actually Nutsedge, and that pulling it was an absolute โno-noโ because it comes back with a vengeance. Empero is designed to kill Nutsedge. Itโs a knock-off of SedgeHammer, has the same chemical make-up and is a little cheaper. It worked well for me on the Nutsedge, but I was careful to use it as instructed by the YouTube videos I found. The videos cautioned that it would not be effective unless used properly. I waited several days after mowing so I could identify the Nutsedge since it had grown taller than the surrounding grass. I used a pump-up tank sprayer to spot-treat where needed. After spraying, do not mow again for at least 2 daysโฆ I waited 3 or 4. According to the instructions, Empero is rainproof after 4 hours. It takes about 4 days, but the Nutsedge will slowly begin turning yellow and stop growing. It will eventually die but may take 4 or 5 weeks after spraying. The Empero did not damage my turfgrass or the Monkey grass in my shrubbery beds. I followed the mixing directions of 0.9 grams per gallon of water and added a little dishwashing liquid as a surfactant. Mixing as directed, the 1.33 ounce bottle will make about 40 gallons of solution. After adding the chemical to the water, I used a paint mixer attached to a drill and stirred the solution for 2 minutes to dissolve the granules. I used almost the entire bottle spot-treating one acre of grass. The included pic shows the Nutsedge (which has turned yellow) 7 days after treatment and 3 days after mowing. I had good success with this product and would not hesitate to use it again.

Atticus Empero Nutsedge Killer did the job of killing Nutsedge
I have Nutsedge growing in my flower beds so I purchased Atticus Empero Nutsedge Killer based on internet reviews. It has the same ingredients as Sledgehammer but it's cheaper. It comes with a very small spoon that provides the correct amount to add to a 1-gallon sprayer. I used a 1/2 of spoonful along with a surfactant (so it will stick to the Nutsedge blades) into a hand spray bottle filled with water. I then sprayed the Nutsedge blades. It takes a couple of weeks for the Empero to kill the Nutsedge but it did a fantastic job of killing it all the way to the bulb (Nut) which prevents it from coming back. (Note: Do not mix more than you need because Atticus Nutsedge Killer has a 7-day life which weakens over time while sitting in a sprayer.) I highly recommend Atticus Empero Nutsedge Killer for killing Nutsedge.

Horsetail
Seems to work as advertised. It may take a few applications but the horsetail grass I sprayed is dying.

Takes a while but it works
I followed the instructions by a person who posted using 2 scoops as opposed to 1 scoop. The scoops are vey small. I added the dish soap and applied it in the evening. I have a large grass area that has the dreaded purple sedge. A lot of the sedge killer sold at big box stores only kill the yellow sedge not the purple sedge. It does take a few weeks to kill the sedge so you must have patience. I recently applied a second application after about 7 weeks as new sedge leaves were growing in areas I missed. This stuff works.
