So do i have to buy two kits to change out my old wires is 300 01

You need one kit, there are 3 coils and three wires. Is300 uses wasted spark and coil on plug, so only 3 wires are needed.

Does this kit come as a set of 6 wires?

No..just a set of 3 wires. There's 3 coil packs called C.O.P.'s (coil over plugs). Each coil pack supplies spark to 2 cylinders, thus one spark plug wire per coil pack. Hope this helps!

Mechanic told me to order complete wire set but I only see three wires, also note indicates boots are also requred, can you advise?

If you're also referring to Lexus IS300 then it uses coil packs and ignition control module instead of distributor (models with distributor would have one wire per spark plug) so basically you only need 3 spark plug wires. Three coil packs sit on top of the other three spark plugs and that's where boots go. I did this exact swap last weekend and replaced spark plug wires and coil boots, for IS300 use NGK CPB-T001 Coil On Plug Boot (need 3 of them as each box comes with only one). This kit contains all 3 wires for spark plugs and they are labeled just like OEM wires. If you have the tools, it wasn't hard to get these replaced, I'd say about an hour of work and I'm not a mechanic.

Good quality which is the primary reason for the good rating. The only downside is each of the the wires are an extra inch or so longer than OEM. Better than an inch too short but was hoping for exact OEM specs so they would precisely fit in the OEM pathway/configuration. That being said would buy again over a no name cheaper alternative without hesitation.
