CHKOSDA Large Digital Wall Clock 28 Inch with GPS Auto-Sync Time - White

This clock tells UTC time. If you are not familiar with UTC time, look it up. OK, now that you looked up UTC time you now understand there is no Eastern, Central etc time zones, there's no day light savings time or any other nonsense like that. Set up was easy, I placed it on a chair in front of a window and in about 2 minutes it synced and showed the correct time--for Beijing. How do I set it for where I live, easy. Again, Google is your friend. Search for what UTC zone(offset) you are in. Take the remote control and point it at the clock and keep pressing the globe button until that zone number shows up on the clock. Done. There is a pamphlet packed with the clock that explains the remote button functions. What about day light savings time, again just Google what UTC Zone and adjust, it is not automatic. The auto dim feature works great. The darker the room gets the dimmer the clock gets. In a totally dark room, you can barely see the numbers. This feature can be turned off and brightness set manually. As for the other features don't know, don't care, don't use them. The clock seems to have no problem receiving the satellite signal on an inside wall about 10 feet from the window. I used a very old Garmin GPS navigation receiver to test satellite strength. I held the GPS where I wanted to hang the clock. I figured if the GPS could lock onto the signal, then the clock should be able to. I was right. Overall quality seems good, and it is sturdy.

Purchased in March of 2026…5 months later and the LED on the “seconds” is already dimming. Happy to take down the review if i can get someone to email me or call me back. Customer service is non existent for this company…

I was looking forward to receiving this clock -- I like the fact that it always has the right time, and it is really big, too. It took a long time to receive it because of political unrest in my country, but the seller was very curteous about it. The BIG problem, though, is that the clock display is very dim. Even on the BRIGHTEST setting, you can hardly see the numbers. I got this to upgrade the clock we currently have in our place of worship, but everyone is complaining that you can't see the numbers. I've tried over and over again to make it brighter, but THIS is the brightest it gets.

It's a big red clock that I can see from across the room. The LED is bright but can be dimmed as needed for the ambient brightness of your selected room. This red clock goes in my office on the wall opposite a large window so the glare forces me to use the brightest setting but I love that I can see the time and seconds whenever I glance at the clock. You kind of take for granted a clock that auto syncs as the ones in my bedroom and bathroom always lose a second or two every week, which adds up to a few minutes after a few months, which makes me have to think about what time it really is when getting ready for work (hmmm...clock says 5:37 and I have to leave at 5:45, but the clock is behind by about 3 minutes and 34 seconds so I don't have 8 minutes, I really only have 5 minutes...or 4 minutes and 26 seconds). It's one of those things you never think about until you don't have it, and I'm glad to have this clock synced all the time. I can look at my Apple Watch or Garmin Watch and see that the seconds are synced exactly so I know that I will always be on time for a meeting. Highly recommended, even at the higher price point, but the clock is accurate, bright, and looks good on the wall.

I am no stranger to CHKOSDA wall clocks, and this model is as good as they get. It anchors my stack of three CHKOSDA clocks (see photo) that help me with precise time for my astronomic time-keeping and for carefully timed amateur radio communications including tracking ham radio satellite orbital tracks. These clocks are not fragile (within reason) and are superbly made. High quality aluminum was used in fabricating the frames, and the pieces are well mated. The clock face comes covered with a full-face plastic protective sheet, and I recommend you leave it in place until you have installed the clock where you want it (it protects the shiny face from damage and from pesky fingerprints as you maneuver it to its mounting spot). Accuracy is excellent, as it re-synchs itself periodically with GPS. (I do find it frustrating that while it is perenially re-synchronized with GPS, it is perpetually about one second slow. I pulsed CHKOSDA customer service at the email address in the user's manual and was pleasantly surprised to receive a response within a few hours. The response was essentially "This is normal with GPS-based clocks." I'm not so sure about that, but the fact that I received a reply so quickly from (literally) the other side of our planet was impressive. And the good news is that no further error accumulates (just one darned second!). Fit and finish are outstanding. The large digits are easily read from a long distance. The red color is highly visible, and the adjustable brightness makes it more user friendly. The built-in automatic dimming setting automatically adjusts for daytime or evening light levels. An easily programmed countdown timer/alert would be ideal for letting everyone know how long remains before an event kicks off or ends. The multiple alarm feature is very useful and very flexible. The provided directions brochure should be the model for all consumer electronics products. It clearly written, well organized, comprehesive, and well presented and illustrated. An A+ to Chkosda! All of the features are straightforward if you follow the instructions step-by-step. Power comes from a proivded USB-A "wall wart" which the clock plugs easily into with the ~5' cord. Note that the display goes blank when power is removed, but a built-in button battery (accessible on the back panel) stores the time and other settings until power is restored. A spare battery is also provided. GPS synchronization is automatic--plug the USB-A plug into power and wait for a green LED (located to the immediate left of the top dot on left colon LCD) to indicate GPS lock by illuminating. This is an outstanding clock, and with the GPS synchronization, well worth the price and a great value. Definitely recommended!

I followed the directions for set up. Everyday it is off by more than an hour, sometimes several. I'm returning it. I bought three cheaper clocks that didn't perform for various reasons, so I thought I needed to pay more for higher quality. That backfired and I am quitting on this type of clock altogether.

Quite good. Automatically sync to GPS time once have sight of the sky.
