My new favorite!
As someone who has used the older version of the Philips 8000 wet / dry epilator for quite some time, I thought it might be useful to provide a comparison review. This updated version just came out and - at the time of this purchase - I couldn't find any reviews which reported the differences between the old and new version (It doesn't help that the old and new version both have the same name, either.). I loved the older version, but now believe that this one will quickly become my new favorite. Overall, this new version seems more ergonomic, balanced, and well-designed than it's predecessor. I'll start by mentioning my absolute favorite update to this new version: the removable / exchangeable end cover / guide (versus the old snap-on guide). The ability to remove the end cover appears to provide MUCH easier access if you happen to be a clean freak (like me) and tend to disassemble the tweezer heads for deep-cleaning. I'm not sure whether this was an intentional outcome of the new design (as the manufacturer tends to instruct users not to disassemble the tweezers for cleaning), however, I'm super excited that I won't feel like I'm trying to perform surgery on the thing or like I have to nearly break the device head just trying to get the tweezers out. The effectiveness of hair removal seems about the same as the old design, which - if you've never used it before - is phenomenal. It's like doing a hard wax, but picks up shorter hairs, doesn't remove your skin with the hair, and can be used more regularly. Basically, all the benefits of a wax (smoothness, duration of effect) without the potential for burns, skin removal, or need for long regrowth between sessions. As with any epilator, you can knick or pinch sensitive parts if skin is not pulled taut while epilating... so just make sure to stretch the skin of at-risk areas and you'll be fine. The lighting feature is way more useful than you think it will be and helps to visualize (and capture) hairs that you might not have otherwise seen. The pain factor is a lot like waxing, especially the first time you use it (when all hair growth cycles are likely to be present - i.e. more hair density). Unlike waxing, you can epilate between growth cycles (when hair is more sparse), so subsequent use tends to be much less painful. Make sure to exfoliate before and regularly after epilating, as this substantially decreases the likelihood of ingrown hairs as regrowth eventually occurs. This principle is true for any any hair removal method that pulls hair from the root, including other epilators and waxing. If you're currently waxing or using another method of hair removal that has quick grow-back, I would definitely recommend trying this... it will change your life! If you've used another epilator and were disappointed with the results, try this one before you give up. No more 5 o'clock shadows for the underarms, bikini zone, legs, etc! As an obvious FYI, this device is way too large for replacing hair-removal methods surrounding the eyebrows... that is, unless you goal is long term removal of the entire eyebrow. It will, however, pick up most vellus hairs of adequate length (i.e. peach-fuzz) in areas that aren't so small and precise - though, there can be a bit more likelihood for breakage (vs complete extraction) with such fine hairs (but not enough to really make it an issue). Either way, I would definitely recommend!!

obsessed
i recently started shaving again and have quickly remembered how annoying it is lol. i love feeling smooth but my hair grows so fast that i'm stubbly again by the next day which drives me crazy. i've tried waxing at home, but it's such a messy and tedious process. i finally decided to give one of these a try and i'm so glad i did! this thing means business!! i'm totally sold on it. i may just have a slightly higher pain tolerance than average, but i really don't find it to be that painful. i think the people in other reviews saying it hurts so bad that they need to get tipsy to use it (or can't use it at all) must have an incredibly low tolerance to pain. it definitely hurts a bit more than waxing, so if you can barely handle getting waxed then i wouldn't recommend this, but if you have no problem with waxing i don't think you would find this to be that much worse. it's so much easier and simpler than waxing at home, and the results last just as long. it's really easy to get the hang of it when you follow the instructions (move it slowly and against the grain of hair growth, and keep it upright, roughly at a 75 degree angle). i was a little nervous to use it on the armpits since the skin there is more sensitive than the skin on the legs, but it honestly wasn't bad at all for me! one thing i will say, though, is that it is VERY painful using it on the face / upper lip area lol. there's no sugarcoating that part, i knew it was gonna be bad but i could barely get through it. i will say that the little precision guide you can attach to it makes it a lot easier to target that area so you can get it over with quickly. another thing to note, as mentioned in some other reviews, is that the device just spits the hairs out instead of collecting them. i'd definitely recommend using it in the shower so you can rinse the hairs down the drain, or at least be prepared to have to sweep all the hairs up off the floor when you're done (or don't, you do you). all in all, if you've never tried one of these and you can handle the pain/discomfort level of waxing just fine, i recommend it for sure! i don't think i'll be going back to shaving or waxing anytime soon (^

Both exceeds expectations and disappoints
This is my first epilator, but I remember the original coil-style (which seemed dreadful in every respect). This is pretty nice. I like the ceramic tweezer discs. Pros: Works on shorter hairs than I expected. Less painful than I expected (yes, it stings, but it really is less painful after a shower and with repeated use. Lower legs MUCH less painful than thighs.) I thought the light was a gimmick but it really is useful. Overall much easier experience than expected. Cons: While it seems to mostly pull hairs, it does break some percentage. I am (only) moderately hairy, but I seem to need to epilate again after about 4 days. The hair is sparser, but definitely there. Itโs never as much stubble as 4 days after shaving, but my legs are never as perfectly smooth and hairless as they would be immediately after shaving. Even immediately after epilating. (Although epilating then shaving is exxxtra smooth.) Maybe this is my hair growth patterns, maybe I am trying to epilate when the hair is too short, maybe itโs breakage. But this is ongoing for a month or two now: by about 4 days itโs time to epilate again. So the up-to-4 weeks marketing is a joke. However, even if Iโm doing maintenance almost as often as shaving, thereโs somewhat less regrowth in the intervals. In summary, itโs a better-than-expected tool with features worth the price, discomfort level is perfectly tolerable on an on-going basis, but the results are a bit disappointing. I will most likely continue to use it and I donโt regret the purchase.

Where has this thing been all my life???
I am 1,000% STUNNED by this device!!! I have been using Braun epilators for a few years now and just wanted to try something new and see if it would last longer. I ordered this and just used it for the first time today. I want to start by saying that I have not epilated or shaved since August 2025. I am blonde with fine, fair hair and very sensitive skin. I actually am kind of "furry" but it's often hard to see because it is light hair on light skin, which can be frustrating when trying to make sure I don't miss any hairs. This thing absolutely blows the Braun epilators out of the water! It is as close to painless as an epilator can get! I truly hardly felt it for the majority of my legs and arms with the exception of my upper, inner thighs. I always expect my first run of the season to be uncomfortable and this was so painless that I actually thought it wasn't working at all and I had to go outside into direct sunlight to check. It grabbed every single hair in just two passes and I wasn't even going as slowly as they recommend! WOW! I was able to do both arms from fingers to arm pits and both legs from toes to bikini line in about 15 minutes, it would take me FOREVER with the Braun, many, many passes, stopping to clean it, having to do it in sunlight (my poor neighbors). This machine is a dream come true. Fast and easy to use, super easy to clean, battery holds a charge really really well. I am not going to lie, my upper inner thighs and bikini area were painful to do, I take my time and do a little at a time, not a long swipe like I can do on my leg. But seriously, it was no more painful than waxing. Not having to shave every few days makes a few minutes of discomfort totally worth it. Once I get the first 2-4 sessions done in the beginning of the season (nabbing all three growth cycles) I can go 6-8 weeks in between sessions after that. If you have darker hair it will probably have to be more frequent than that and if you have coarser hair it will probably be a little more uncomfortable but the difference between the two devices should translate to those women as well. *** I use the epilator dry. Less wasted shower water, easier to clean the device after and I can move my body where the best lighting is. I have heard that using it on warm, wet skin can even further reduce discomfort but I have not tried that.

I didn't know I was so fuzzy!
This one is AWESOME! I have had several over the last few years. This is the only one that has been able to get the fine hairs! The picture is just the fuzz from ONE upper leg! I am old, I can't see those hairs and they are so fine I don't feel them either. For those that are new to these, does it hurt, well.. yes. But after a few swipes it actually feels like a good itch. If you have older skin, I suggest you pull the skin tight or it will pinch your crape paper skin. I have never been brave enough to do my underarms or other (cough) parts. I do highly recommend this to those who hate shaving weekly.

Donโt buy this model
I had an epilator that I owned for 18 years and it finally gave out. So I read so many reviews before deciding on this one. For starters, the rotating tweezers on this model are plastic and that makes this whole device cheap! It takes too many swipes over the same spot to get the hair unless itโs really long. It falsely advertises that it can remove really short hairs. Thatโs a lie. The charge lasts maybe an hour or so with a full charge. And you canโt use it while itโs charging. The design of the top part of the device is bulky and you canโt reach tight spaces like bikini area. The design on the whole device is not ergonomic, doesnโt have a grip so it kind of slides out of your hand while youโre doing it and gave my hand a cramp from holding it in a weird angle while trying to do my bikini area while simultaneously avoiding my delicate parts. I hate this device. And it was expensive. $100 for plastic. Also FYI, epilators are extremely painful regardless of the model you get. But they help for in between waxing appointments.

Good... But My Other Epilator Has Set the Bar ๐
I don't think this is a bad epilator at all. it gets the job done, and I can definitely see why people like it. It removes hair pretty well, it's comfortable to hold, and it feels like a quality product. That said... I may have accidentally spoiled myself by using the Braun Silk-รฉpil 9 first. Compared to my Braun, this one just didn't grab as many hairs in one pass, so I found myself going over the same spots a few extra times. It wasn't terrible, just a little more time-consuming than I was hoping for. When you're already voluntarily ripping tiny hairs out by the root, you kind of want to get it over with as quickly as possible. The pain level was about what you'd expect from an epilator, but I didn't think it was any worse than other models. Overall, I think this is still a solid epilator and I'd happily recommend it to someone who doesn't have another one to compare it to. But if you've already used the Braun Silk-รฉpil 9-720, you might end up doing what I did: finishing your leg, looking at the Philips, and saying, "It's not you... it's Braun."

Effective! Iโm Thrilled!!!
Regardless of product, epilation takes getting used to so take your time. My second time epilating was more comfortable and the hair was slightly more fine and epilating was more comfortable. It is a process of refinement as hair grows a little less thick, the level of comfort with ablating increases each time. Please note I am doing this in my private areas which are the most sensitive. It takes patience, but it is so worth it.!

La mejor depiladora por el precio
Muy muy buena calidad, comparado con la series 4000 o la satinelle, obviamente es una depiladora de "arranque" duele un poco al inicio, pero son solo los primeros 10 segundos. Despuรฉs te acostumbras
