How effective is RadonSeal Efflorescence Cleaner at removing efflorescence?

RadonSeal Efflorescence Cleaner effectively removes most efflorescence, salt deposits, and lime from surfaces. However, over time, some deposits can form calcium carbonate, which is harder for cleaners to remove and may require mechanical grinding.

Will the cleaner discolor the surface?

The cleaner can make surfaces look refreshed and “like new” compared to untreated areas. Its buffered formulation can lightly etch surfaces, so it’s best to spot test first—especially on colored surfaces—before treating the entire area.

How is the cleaner applied?

You can apply it with a hand-pump garden sprayer, a watering can, roller, or brush, whatever’s easiest for you.

Will the cleaner harm grass, plants, or metal nearby?

For protection, mask any surfaces you don’t want cleaned and lightly water nearby grass and shrubs. Avoid contact with aluminum and other metals, but if the cleaner does get on metal, simply rinse with water or wipe it off with a damp cloth.

Do I need to use baking soda or ammonia to neutralize the cleaner?

No, just plenty of clean water is enough. Depending on the size of the area, wet the surface with a spray bottle, watering can, hose, or pressure washer. Indoors, you can use a shop vac afterward to thoroughly remove the dirty water and cleaner.
