This also happens to be a favorite sharpener of mine and has two holes for thicker ...
What it does and doesn't work with... I just received these and tested them against virtually all the small manual sharpeners that I own. Here's what I found: 1. No, they will not work with the M&R nor Alvin bullet. A comment from another post is correct: they are just a bit wider and it doesn't leave much of a gap. I did not actually try to sharpen a pencil with it in, but I don't see where the shavings would go. 2. They are identical to the KUM Wood Cutter sharpener. 3. They are also identical to the Kum 104.03.01 Magnesium Alloy Metal 1-Hole Steel Blade Rectangular Pencil Sharpeners. This sharpener also comes with two additional blades already that are screwed into the side of the device. I added into the photo the KUM long point. You can clearly see that its blade is much bigger and these replacements would not be suitable for it. 4. The also work very well with the M&R round 602 sharpener. This also happens to be a favorite sharpener of mine and has two holes for thicker pencils. 5. They appear also to be slightly narrower than the blades on the KUM Automatic Long Point sharpener. This sharpener is a huge disappointment BTW. 6. They also match perfectly with the blade in the Prismacolor Scholar sharpener. In fact, when I took the original blade out of it, I found an Eisen blade identical to the one that I photographed earlier below. This sharpener (or blade?), BTW, does not do well with watercolor pencils. I also had difficulties sorting through what blades work with which sharpeners, and which sharpeners work well with colored pencils as well as other pencils. All of the above manual sharpeners range from fair to great at sharpening a range of colored pencils, but my most consistent performer is the M&R 602 round two hole. Hope this helps!

These blades will always be there for you when needed to keep your sharpener like new.
Excellent replacement blades for the M&R brass sharpener always at the readyโฆ I will definitely be buying more when needed (have only changed one blade in 6 months of sharpening use.)

very good when sharp but don't stay sharp long enough for a good point.
UPDATE: O1-08-2018 worked well on the little aluminum sharpener and i was finally able to get the old blades out of a brass, round tow-hole Alvin brass sharpener. they work very well - when new. but i don't think they stay all that sharp for the long run. the brass sharpener was accidently submersed in a stainless steel container that had old stainless steel forks and spoons, a couple of old bowls, dish soap. etc. so today, after a couple of months of this mixture sitting all together - it was hidden away by mistake - this is what the blades looked like. the sharpener was fine, a wee bit stained but i was SO surprised at the blades' corrosion. is steel supposed to corrode? maybe the quality is not as such that is needed to remain sharp. i use just for colored pencils and occasionally sharpen a graphite pencil. so i find myself changing blades more than i like.

Excellent
I have a half-dozen hand-sharpeners from many brands... Alvin, Koh-i-Noor, Staedtler. So far, no problems and all seem to perform better than ever. I don't really understand the plastic case: it's not like I'm going to sit at my desk on Monday morning and say "hmmm, which pencil sharpening blade shall I choose today?" and then laugh manically, knowing the future of my pencils lie at stake. Some kind of cardboard sleeve thing would be better and more enviro. But these seem to be excellent blades. They do make a noticeable difference. If you're looking at an item like this then you know how maddening it is to try to sharpen something like a color pencil and then have the tip break off just when you're about to stop. It doesn't seem to happen with these blades. Or maybe I shouldn't be using blades from the 1980s?

Inconsistent results
I have both round 2 hole and rectangular two hole. Worked great out of box but when I put M &R replacement blades on they did not work most of the time. They fit the sharpener but donโt make contact with pencil. Iโm using sharpener for Fabre castle Pitt pastel pencils. Same size as standard #2 pencil. I will try again in case I got a bad batch (used returned item) as these were recommended for my pencils. Also case is very hard to open.

very Important information about the blades.
I am very particular about my pencil sharpeners. I am an artist and love a really sharp pencil. I love the brass M & R brass sharpeners and I have always bought blade refills. BUT...There is a massive discrepancy in the blade sizes that makes these blue packs of ten too big to fit into my M&R bullet shaped sharpener which is my primary one I use. I was very disappointed, so I went back and spent a lot more money on the M&R 3 pack, thinking that maybe the ten pack was some kind of knock off. Today I tried out all the blades and found out that the pack of ten fit the round and two blade pencil sharpener and work well, and the 3 pack is smaller and fits the bullet shaped one. It is ridiculous for there to be a slightly different size blade for the smaller one, and certainly no information online that I found to make it clear which M & R blades fit which one! It is only because I love the feel of these sharpeners that I persevered to find out and solve the mystery. Please, M&R be clear with the description of the blade refill packs.. they are different. This information is essential and should be posted in the description to help those of us continue using and appreciating this well made staple of the studio. Now I have solved the problem, I will continue using them as the blades are great and the sharpeners are so satisfying to use.
