By shade I believe you are talking about a Lamp Shade. I bought this for my lamp as well, and it was too big. You are better off going with a 12W philips bulb which comes with a flatter glass portion(even that protudes a little - by a few mm's).Length of the bulb - 11.7 cm including the base which goes into the holder (9cm excluding the aluminium base)Diameter of the bulb - 6.5 cm
