Poorly written and frankly I cannot see why the series has been republished!

If you have any feeling for animals avoid this at all costs! Even the detail of the vegetation is inaccurate! Giant lobelia and groundsel and the huge moss yes - but giant pansies? I do not think so! The cruelty in the book is condemned but there is no mention in the forward that this was pre Cites although it does say that the racial attitudes are those of a previous age. Not something that I would want a 21st century child to read.
