Well made and functional knife
I bought this knife to throw in a fishing package for my little brothers christmas gift. Out of the fishing shirts, lures, baby wipes (nice when that coffee starts activating your insides on a boat with no toilet), etc., this was his favorite. In the past three weeks I'd say it's received a decent amount of use - enough so that I can post an honest review. Sharpness - 5/5 Right out of the box, this knife is razor sharp - it will shave a baby's bottom like section of arm hair on your forearm with just two light passes of the knife. If you happen to graze the blade at any speed, it will cut your skin...very sharp...which is awesome for a fillet knife. Flexibility - 4/5 Has a nice bend to it, It's stiff enough to get into some medium sized trout or redfish and still flexible enough to separate the skin from the meat when filleting. I like a little more bend in the knife so I don't have to tilt the knife down to horizontal while filleting - I'd say I like to be at a 25º angle, this one probably puts me at 18º from horizontal (not actual angles, just the way it feels to me) Corrosion Resistance ?/5 - so far a 5/5 but time will tell No rust as this blade is coated in titanium - you can put titanium in salt water and it will not dissolve - this is great for any blades used in humid marine environments and in any knife that will be used for filleting. The 420J2 specification is not one that I have any knowledge on, but 420 steel is a pretty standard knife material for its decent edge retention and ease of resharpening. Size - 5/5 Having this knife fold up makes it very desirable for a tackle box - no requirement for a sheath, compact size lets it fit in smaller spaces, no accidentally cutting yourself when it's closed - it's practical. When opened, it's the perfect size for filleting. Grip - 5/5 Even with fish oil paws, you're not going to lose your grip - hard to top that Overall it's an excellent knife that has, so far, held up to the less than stringent requirements that some of the other reviews on here also boast on it about. I'm buying another for myself, and will buy again when and if the knife fails

Great Product
I really like this knife. Holds an edge very well. Compact, stays in my tackle bag. Perfect size for me and has not shown any signs of rust. I do clean it after I have used it. Everyone that sees it has been impressed.

Damn fine fillet knife
Very good quality I got this for my grandpa for this coming Christmas I'll put a better edge on it (all factory edges are mid and you'll have to sharpen them)

LOVE THE FOLDING DESIGN
FOLDING DESIGN IS GREAT. PROTECTS THE BLADE A FITS IN THE TACKEL BOX BETTER. JUST A LITTLE HARDER TO CLEAN WHEN DONE. VERY SHARP AND FLEXIBLE

ONE BADAZZ FOLDING BLADE!!!!!
Yep! That's what I said. A little larger than I anticipated, but still fits my average small hand very well and the extra added length is actually a benefit. Has a nice finger grip close to the blade that allows you to get a sold grip for a more detailed approach, or move down the handle an inch to the middle of the grip for a more strait forward filleting approach on large fish. Even with the grubbiest hands you can still get a grip on this knife because the handle is a firm but comfortable design, not flexible or squishy rubber. A well thought out design IMHO as the grooves in the handle are angled forward giving you plenty of pull-power, and yet large enough to grip and feel without being uncomfortably large for the forward-power stroke if needed. The swell midway in the handle is perfect for that "my hand is full feeling", giving you good solid grip and directional control. You know where that blade is at all times even when not looking directly at it. Great control and feel. This is a hard rubber handle with a small-texturing on what looks to be a smooth finish that helps prevent it from being slick like so many. Just enough so you know it's there, but not enough to be noticeably distracting, ...if you even notice. I didn't at first until I started looking at it closely. The nicely coated titanium blade is flexible but somewhat stiff for a fillet knife, as others have commented, having a hefty 1/16" spine. It is most certainly deadly sharp out of the box with a uniform edge right down to the tip! Strop this baby and you could probably chop down Oaks! ...LOL. ...Seriously though, it is scary sharp so be "extremely careful” when open ...period. Even closed it has a nice feel to it. You could use it in defense mode as a seriously formidable weapon when closed too should the need arise to ward off an aggressive person or beast! Definitely in the heavy coal-conker class for its size weighing a solid 6 ounces. ;-). Although I cringe at the thought of damaging such a beautiful knife, in a pinch or emergency you could use it closed as a hammer for up to 6 or 8p nails (seriously), or a fish bat! It could also save your life as a window/windshield breaker. Think outside the box folks! You have a moderate sized well crafted tool that can be more than a knife "if" ever needed. That said, fit and finish are top notch IMO and far superior to many others I've had over the years. Smooth joints as in overall well crafted composition/construction with no sharp edges (outside the blade of course). This is not a chopping blade because the steal is too soft (and in this case too lite), so don't go chopping up your firewood with this one. It "is" however the perfect steal for it's intended purpose and beyond. Hard enough to keep an edge, yet soft enough to be flexible given a blades thickness, as well as reasonably dress up the edge in the field without spending all day at it if needed. This is a well crafted knife for the inexpensive costs with a great feel in the hand and is balanced well for it's design intent. Comes with a rip-cord lanyard nicely sized to fit around your wrist so you don't drop or lose it, which is threaded through steal and not plastic or rubber. Lanyard hole is big enough to add a safety tether if desired. I can't say enough good about this knife and yet I've probably said too much. So if you've read this far, thank you. I hope my commentary helps give you a better idea of just how well this knife is made, all-be-it imported from China contrary to popular belief (says so right on the blade :-0 ). As Mikey said, " Try it! You'll like it! ” I did. ...and I do! Thanks Buck Knives for another affordably priced, "great" quality knife!

Safe-Sharp-Fishing Knife!
This is a great fishing knife. Was worried I"d have a traditional fishing knife in my backpack fishing and on the muddy banks of river fishing, may slip and could stab yourself in the back with your own knife! With the folding knife, it is very sharp and i continue to sharpen after every use and works well. Most of all, it is safe to carry in the back of my fishing vest or backpack without the worry of the cover coming off and getting stabbed. I liked this knife so much, i purchased another back up! Price of about $34 was well worth the safety aspect. Have used over the past 5 years!

MFG RALF
