Alesis Multimix 8 USB
I purchased this deck after reading the reviews and I am glad I did. Its ideal for my home recording and plugs straight into my PC. Using ASIO4All driver there is minimal latency. The only critism is that it has only one channel for guitar, but I can still work with this. Its a very robust design and the knobs are nice and smooth. It also fits on my desk tray with plenty of room around it. I used to have a Behringer, which only lasted about 6 years and gradually degraded until it did not work at all, so I won't by Behringer again until their quality gets better. In summary the Alesis has exceeded my expectations and would recommend this for the home recordist.

great item
The only downfall i have about this , is the limitations of the various reverbs on it, other then that it works perfectly , and is so easy to set up, plug and play, dead simple would recomend this to anyone

Good mixer with many features
Good mixer for the price, with many features including USB, microphone inputs, 2x stereo line ins for keyboards, drums, etc and a passive pick-up guitar line in. Also comes with Steinberg Software. The only problem with it is the registration of the software did not work properly so I have only a trial period to use it. I have read others had a similar problem. Luckily, I prefer Cubase software so it does not really affect me.

OK but the ASIO drivers...
Had a lot of problems finding the (good) ASIO drivers and with no success. I don not understand why the brand does not make available drivers as good as the ones from Ploytec; at this moment they cost about 51 Euros... After trying the Demo version it they seem to be much more faster. It took me many days to having it working. It is a very inexpensive mixer and with all the features it has, in this price range maybe we could not expect more. Avoid the confusion with the other model Multimix8 usb 2.0 (fx). If you need to record more than 2 audio channels you do need the other model. Also be aware that this model has a USB 1.1 interface... not a 2.o, with all the implications.

A good value mixer
Bought to replace the same which was damaged at a gig. Not quite the same quality unfortunately. The power cable was a screw in device now a cheaper plug in very short lead. Also the protective material along the edges is now cheaper. The bean counters have been at this product

Fantastic for the price and what it does!
I bought the Multimix8 about a year and a half ago. I was looking for something compact and solid to use both for home studio recording (GarageBand and Logic Studio Pro) as well as on-line karaoke with Zoom. The build and sound quality are excellent. I have owned other Alesis gear in the past and that helped inform my decision to go with this product sight unseen. It has some important features that I value including sweepable mids on the first 2 channels as well as built-in reverb and an external effects send. Additionally, there is an insert on the first 2 channels as well which means the ability to use side chain compression. Nothing else in this price range had all of those features. There was a Yamaha that came close but required using a computer to access and control effects so it could not be completely standalone. There is also flexible input and output routing via switches which are important depending on what you are doing with it and how you want to monitor audio. It is limited to 44.1/48khz 16bit stereo digital in and out via USB but that is not an issue for me. That said I do wish it had a few other features. Exclusion of some of these are purely about keeping the cost down: I would love solo and mute buttons on the channels. These seem to be missing from all small mixers but are immensely valuable things to have! (I would have paid the same amount of money for only a 4 channel mixer that had all features on every channel plus solo/mute). It would also be really nice to be able to control the volume of the digital audio input. The digital audio FX are passable but limited (I use one of the Alesis reverbs then add in delay when needed externally with the effects send). So ultimately truly a great piece of hardware which I highly recommend!
