Over a million copies sold! A fundamental influence on modern libertarianism, this classic guide to the basics of economic theory defends capitalism and the free market from economic myths that persist to this day. “A magnificent job of theoretical exposition.”—Ayn Rand Considered among the leading economic thinkers of the “Austrian School,” which includes Carl Menger, Ludwig von Mises, Friedrich (F.A.) Hayek, and others, Henry Hazlitt wrote Economics in One Lesson in 1946. Concise and instructive, it is also deceptively prescient and far-reaching in its efforts to dissemble economic fallacies that are so prevalent they have almost become a new orthodoxy. Economic commentators across the political spectrum have credited Hazlitt with foreseeing the collapse of the global economy which occurred more than fifty years after the initial publication of Economics in One Lesson . Hazlitt’s focus on non-governmental solutions, strong—and strongly reasoned—anti-deficit position, and general emphasis on free markets, economic liberty of individuals, and the dangers of government intervention make Economics in One Lesson every bit as relevant and valuable today as it has been since publication. Emphatic!
A book written during the heyday of communism condemning welfare state becomes all the more appealing what with fall of communism world over....it may warrant yet another "30 years later" chapter.

Not the only econony book you need, but definitely a classis
Personlly, I approached this book without having any idea of what it is. I was merely told that this is the economics Bible. I did not even properly look at the cover of the book when I picked it up and started reading. But only after reading a few pages, I realised that this book does not teach economy. It is merely trying to justify a certain school of thought. Then I closed it, and noticed the recommendation by Ayn Rand on the cover. I was like, "Oh No!" However, just because I do not agree with the author does not mean I should rate it low. This book does its job very well, which is to explain one side of the story. It uses simple language, is concise, and illustrates its points with examples. It is your responsibility as a reader to also read authors who tell the other side of the story.

Best book for beginners
Best book for beginners, explained with short and relevant examples (general statistics and policies which have already been implemented) against each theory. The chapters touch most of the important topics and opens the doors which a normal mind wouldn't even think of!

It was a good read. For those of us who are anti neo liberals. It is good to hear straight from the horse's mouth on good intentioned laissez faire, so that having heard them, we can challenge its premises, world vision and value systems with our own life experiences as among the 99%

Must read for everyone
Best most concise book for learning how economics really work. A bit of a eye opener in many topics, specially for people that have been wrong their whole lives, its a pill hard to swallow for them, that is why there are a few negative reviews, just don't get misled by them and read this gem.

very capitalist-oriented
in one chapter, the author argues against government intervention to save certain industries using agriculture as an example. he does make a good point which he explains with clear details such as “if you give something to someone, the selected one, someone else will be left with nothing” which is true to a certain extend. however, why not using the financial sector as an example? right, that’s the point I’m making here. it still remains a good read for any economics student. I still recommend it
