Our Taper King guards don't discriminate and work on all hair types! If you're having issues achieving the desired results, try cutting from a slightly different angle, taking shorter passes with the clippers or begin from the front of the head instead of the back. Are both the left and right side included in each order? Yes! Each order placed contains 2 guards. One marked "R" and the other marked "L" on the back so you can be sure to get the best results possible. Should I be worried if the Taper King guard has a different tine lengths than that of the OEM guard? No, there's nothing to worry about! The tine length does not affect the length at which the hair will be cut . The amount of hair that will be cut is dictated by the depth of the tine as illustrated above. The above guard cuts hair at a #7 length on the left side and a #2 length on the right side, with the hair between cut at a proportional gradient for a consistent taper . I used your guards and they caused lines of uncut hair, what do I do now? If this happened to you, don't worry- the fix is simple and easy! This issue is caused by moving the clippers across the head in a strictly horizontal method instead of in a more diagonal direction as recommended. The visibility and severity of these lines depend on other factors such as the hair thickness, color and direction of the hair growth. In order to remedy this issue, cut with the clippers at a diagonal angle, making multiple passes as you work from the back of your head to the front of your head. Go ahead and take as many passes as required to remove the lines, taking your time doing this. We made a quick video available online that provides more detail. Review: A must have for intricate tapers - I bought a previous set from Taper King that was FDM 3D printed a few years ago. It held up great for the most part, however the tapers were difficult to clean and brittle. This new version is a great improvement and are vastly superior to the FDM 3D printed ones. There's no print lines so they're easier to clean and the material feels just as strong as my Wahl factory set. Outside of comparing them to the previous version. These tapers are ones that can't be found anywhere else from what I'm aware of. They save time because you can get a clean thick taper with one guard instead of having to switch out different flat guards a bunch of times. I get a much cleaner cut with these than taking a bunch of different sized guards and I am less prone to making mistakes using these tapers. They're very easy to use and are a must have both for home use and professionally. Included in my review are the new set on the left and the FDM 3D printed set on the right. Review: Sturdy and smooth - I’ve been cutting my own hair for a while and have tried a lot of different guards and tools that claim to make fades easier. Most of them feel gimmicky, but these actually make sense once you use them. The angled design helps blend the transition between lengths when you’re working up the sides and around the back of the head. It doesn’t replace basic clipper technique, but it definitely makes it easier to avoid harsh lines, especially if you’re doing your own taper. I’m using Wahl 5 Star clippers and the guards fit perfectly and feel secure, just like standard guards. They glide through my hair smoothly and don’t snag. Overall, this is a simple idea that actually helps, especially for people doing self cuts or maintaining their fade between barber visits.
