Does anyone know what the duty is on this to ship it to the us.

I don't think there is any. No customer gotten back to me that they have paid duty.

The hdmi port on this is blown out . is there replacement for it?

Yes. I've seen a few Shaw Direct receivers with blown out HDMI ports. The ones I have seen have been from HDMI ports hooked to surround sound systems. Perhaps the surround sound system was putting out too much voltage. If you phone Shaw Direct they will usually cover the receiver under warranty their life time warranty. They usually ship you a refurbished replacement.

Is this a satellite receiver?

Yes, it is a Shaw HD receiver, got many channels back, still need LNB's to get 100%.

Does anyone have the lirc control codes for this box so that i could control it with a raspberry pi?

Sorry I don't have any info for a raspberry pie device. On the android devices the Peel Remote app works great. Perhaps you could contact that developer of that app and they may have a product or send you to another developer that has what you need.
