Product Description Review: Easy To Use, Works Well, Comprehensive 14 Parameter Test. Great Price For A 150 Pack - These Dr. Deutsch Reagent Strips For Urinalysis (14 Parameters) come in a 150 pack and test Protein, Ketones, pH, Blood, Glucose, Creatinine, Ascorbic Acid, Billirubin, Urinary Calcium, Urobillinogen, Protein Nitrite, Leukocytes, Microalbumin and Specific Gravity. There's a handy image on the listing to determine what each parameter means and will help you understand the results (added it here, too). It's really simple to use: - Pee (obviously) - Dip for 2 seconds - Wait 60 seconds - Compare to the colour chart on the tub (also consult in the image on the desertcart listing, if you need to) I do actually have a health concern at the moment - the Blood, Specific Gravity, pH and Ascorbic Acid parameters did flag this (kidney stone....awaiting surgery), though, of course these aren't to be used in lieu of a clinician's insight and support. Bear in mind you only have 1-2 minutes to check the results after dipping (would prefer it to be longer, especially for this newbie), after which results are considered invalid. Works well and there's a generous amount of test strips - great for the price. There's an 11 parameters option too (which I nearly ordered) but I reckoned it was better to choose the more comprehensive version. Review: Great value urine quick test strips for 14 parameters - These are exactly the sort of indicator strips that you see GPs using for quick on the spot urine testing. Handy if you want to track a condition at home or as a random spot check to see if things are in order. There is a very comprehensive instructions sheet provided. Explaining what each of the 14 test reagent pads are indicating. There is an 11 test version available a bit cheaper but for the small extra cost it’s better to get this 14 test IMHO. The additional tests included on these 14 test strips are creatinine, calcium and microalbumin. You dip the strip into recent urine sample (or even hold the strip in the urine stream momentarily). Then wait 1 minute for the test to develop. Then you have a further full minute in which to read the colours on the pads against the colour charts on the bottle label. This is the bit I find slightly tricky as you only have a minute to check all the test pads colours against the chart. Beyond that minute the results are likely invalid. So it’s important to be in a well lit situation (preferably natural daylight from a window) when reading the colours against the bottle label charts. I found it’s better to scan for everything to be within the normal range and if any parameter is in doubt, run another test strip but focus on the suspect parameter. As I said you only have a minute to complete the reading beyond that time the results maybe unreliable or misleading. The use by date on the bottle of strips is November 2027 so around 2 years shelf life. These are stated to be for professional use only, on the carton. Less than 12p per test strip, so good to use as often as you like with a generous 150 strips in the screw topped bottle.

Useful home urine checks
I was recently taken ill and checks showed that there was an issue with my urine which I need to keep an eye on and, because I also get urine infections, I ordered this pot of 150 Dr Deutsch reagent strips for urinalysis, opting for the one which had 14 parameters, including checking for blood, glucose, ketone, creatine and bilirubin. The instructions say to dip the stick in the stream but show an image of a pot so I used a urine catcher and dipped it in that for a couple of seconds, waited 60 seconds and took a photo on my iPad as they say anything over 2 minutes isn't reliable and it takes a while to check it all, especially for non-professionals like me. I also took a photo of the 14 different listings and the tiny numbers on top of each colour block as I couldn't see clearly enough. The colour chart is, as with most of this type of product, wrapped around the tube which makes it difficult to check. I wish they also produced a flat version. When I went to look at the description for each parameter to see whether or not they were normal or problematic, I realised that the order of listing in the instructions isn't the same as on the tub so had to write it all out, then check it. That made it fiddlier than it needed to be. These home tests are useful, I am due to have it checked properly at my GP's next week but now know to ask about a couple more issues where I had high readings and I'll fully admit that I just couldn't understand some of the details but the high readings suggested that these need further investigation by professionals. They're a good starting point, they're hard to read because the writing is so small and it would have helped to have numbers for each parameter on the reagent strips as I had to keep counting because there are 14 of them. Useful, not perfect, but more of a starting point or checking known issues, including infections and glucose. I think they're great value at £16.99 for 150 – or about 11p each, 4*

Handy to have at home to monitor urine issues
These urine test strips are very useful to have at home, especially if you need to monitor ongoing health conditions or want to keep an eye on things between medical appointments. The pack contains a large number of strips, so it works out fairly economical per test compared to buying smaller packs from pharmacies. The strips themselves are simple to use, with clear colour charts printed on the container to help interpret the results. Results appear quickly and the 14 different parameters provide a much more detailed overview than basic strips that only test a couple of things. I mainly use them as a general monitoring tool rather than relying on them for diagnosis, and I think that’s the sensible way to approach products like this. They’re useful for spotting potential changes or abnormalities that may need further investigation by a healthcare professional. The container seals well to help keep moisture out and the strips remained in good condition after opening. Overall, these are convenient, easy-to-use home urinalysis strips that offer good value considering the quantity included.

Great at-home testing
These DR. DEUTSCH 14‑parameter urine test strips are surprisingly practical if you want a reliable at‑home option without feeling like you’re using flimsy, clinic‑leftover supplies. The pack comes sealed well, the strips are clearly marked, and the colour chart is easy to read — no squinting or guessing between shades. Results develop quickly, usually within the stated timeframe, and the indicators for things like glucose, protein, ketones, pH, and blood are distinct enough to interpret confidently. What stands out is the range: having 14 parameters in one strip makes it useful for both routine checks and more specific monitoring. The 150‑strip count is generous, especially if you’re testing regularly or using them in a professional setting. They’re consistent, react cleanly, and don’t feel affected by humidity when stored properly. For home users or anyone needing a dependable urinalysis tool, this set offers accuracy, clarity, and very good value.

Only buy this if you know what you are doing
The description of this product on amazon states this is for 'professional and home testing.' The box is clearly marked 'Professional use only.' So, home use or not? Opening the box reveals an instructions sheet in addition to the kit itself, which is housed in a sturdy cylindrical plastic container with a screw lid. Opening the lid reveals a foil seal which needs to be broken to access the contents, which are the 150 (I didn't count them) strips to use for dipping as well as a pack of silica gel to keep them free from moisture. These strips are said to perform to 14 different parameters, the result being read by comparing the colours on the used strip with a comprehensive chart on the container. Instructions state that stored in a dry place at temperatures between 2 and 30 degrees Celsius the strips have a life of up to 2 years. The leaflet sets out the intended use and test principle, listing the different characteristics which the colour of the dipped strip may disclose. These are all listed including blood, ketone, protein and others up to the 14 as well as listing the contents and a reference range for each parameter. Testing is done by quickly dipping the strip into and removing it from a urine sample and comparing the resultant strip to the chart on the container by holding the strip against it for comparison. It should be read within 2 minutes of dipping and should a positive result be obtained the test should be repeated for certainty. The leaflet explains in some detail the import of what may be disclosed by the strip and goes on to explain in more detail what may be learned from the test and the degrees of accuracy obtained. It also states once again for professional use only. I have had no reason to use the test, but it seems clear to me is that while anybody may use the strips for testing and with care obtain a result which may be interpreted by comparison with the chart provided, accurate interpretation of the result is likely beyond the capacity of the average lay person, emphasising once more that the kit is of more benefit to a medical professional that to a lay person. In the light of this I cannot recommend its purchase by anyone other than a medical professional.

Good for detecting blood in urine
I had a procedure recently and need to keep track of blood in urine. Post op blood in urine is expected and not only is small amounts of blood visible when urinaring, also these strips show up blood at the middle to upper level against the chart. The wife has had long term issues with kidney stones and has sporadic very small amounts of blood. These strips show a small change from the control colour to the first colour on the blood chart key. So although this isn't particularly scientific, these strips certainly show the expected levels of blood in urine that we were both told to expect for our different medical issues. I cannot comment on any of the other 13 things these indicate for. The one thing that could be tricky is that it can be difficult to read across correctly from the strip to the chart on the bottle if you were looking to check multiple substances, and generally the writing is very small and feint for older eyes to decipher. Also it doesn't feel hugely hygienic to put the 'used' strip up against the bottle label to check the colour. I can imagine that after the 150th strip the bottle label might be a little grim looking. Apart from that I think that £17 for 150 strips is pretty good value. I would score these 4.5 stars if I could, but I rounded up to 5 stars as I thought 4 stars was too low.
