LifeCam VX-3000 Win

Item is an amazing cam BUT. Getting the drivers for win 8 and up seem insurmountable. So I am forced by fiscal expedient to buy a later camera . This is not a problem with the camera or seller or Amazon This is due to Microsoft not supporting their products. And due to this I will not buy another Microsoft product. It's a shame too because I have used 6 prior box 3000 and 6000. And lost them last year and wAnted only to replace them with the same thing.

Ehh, it's good for the 14 dollar price I paid for it, but I saw it listed for $35.00 and that is just too much and if I paid that I would give it one star. It worked great on my Windows 7 desktop but on my windows 10 laptop it did nothing, which kinda sucks because I can't skype on my main desktop. The quailty is grainy but it is worth 14 dollars, if you need to video call and are short of money I recommend this. UPDATE: This camera is awesome, the quality is so clear and nice, the review above is from using youtube capture, for the skype thing, it's true. But if you're using direct youtube capture, the quality is terrible.

Be aware that this webcam officially is not supported by Win 8! Having Win 8.1 I've downloaded Win 7 drivers. Webcam works properly.

Reasons I bought this camera: - it's cheap - it has a microphone - it's not a headset (I've been having a lot of trouble finding cheap microphones that aren't headsets and still have decent reviews) - I guess a camera is a nice bonus for a cheap mic that I don't have to wear on my head. The Good: 1. Camera's about as advertised. Pretty grainy on g+ hangout, but surprisingly well-adjusted to lighting. The Bad: 1. It broke as soon as I set it up. I plugged it in, set it on the table, and it fell a whopping 3 feet onto carpet, where the base promptly broke off. 2. The mic has a LOT of static/background noise. It's hard to tell how much of that is because the mic is in direct contact with the table (see #1). I made a recording of myself and I could barely hear the words over the shhhhhhh. Look, it's a $ 20 camera. I wasn't expecting it to be a paragon of robustness. That said, I really didn't think it would break BEFORE I even got to use it.

Used the Win7 driver on Win10 (b/c it was the closest option) - The software generally worked, and had some fun options. However, the image was so grainy I could barely tell a head was there, much less see facial details, even in good lighting conditions with the cam just a few inches away. I'm not sure if this has some sort of relation to its compatibility with the newer OS? We are returning it.

If you like to see who you are looking at, this is for you. Works very well. I only wish they'd put heavy tape on the back, so I do not have to use packaging tape..

Another quality Microsoft WebCam

I use this to make stop-motion movies. The picture quality is very good. The camera can easily clip onto any flat screen monitor, and it can be set on top of a CRT monitor (or the floor, or a desk, etc). The 6 foot cable is very handy when you want the camera far from the computer. The focus is slightly hard to use at first, but after you get used to it, it works well. The pan, tilt, zoom, and face-tracking can only be used on low resolutions. Some of the software effects didn't install on my laptop (however, note that my laptop is VERY old and is running XP). When you try to physically move the camera around, it's easy to accidentally push the Windows Live call button and start Live Messenger.

Wegen negativen Erfahrung mit einer Logitech Cam bestellte ich diese Microsoft und wurde nicht enttäuscht! Nach der langwierigen Installation mit der bei MS schon fast üblichen Fehlermeldung: xxx.dll nicht gefunden, hatte ich keine Lust diese im Web zu suchen -auf der CD war sie natürlich nicht. Neustart und die Cam wurde erkannt und läuft einwandfrei, die dazugehörige gute, umfangreiche Software ebenfalls. Einwandfreie Bildqualität -Scharfeinstellung manuell, egal welche der 6 vorgegebenen Grössen. Viele Einstellmöglichkeiten, gut, da in der Grundeinstellung etwas hell und zu kalte Farbe aber einmal nach Wunsch einstellen reicht, da auch viele Automatik-Schalter und Regelbereich sehr gross. besonders hervorzuheben noch die Sehr gute Qualität bei wenig Licht! Dass die Cam unter Vista nicht läuft, kann ich nicht bestätigen: läuft bei mir unter XP, Vista und sogar Windows 7 Beta. Halterung ist brauchbar. Der Ton ist auch besser als erwartet, somit von mir eine klare Kaufempfehlung. Trotzdem 1 Punkt Abzug wegen Meckern bei der Installation -MS cam auf MS Winddows! aber vor allem wegen fehlender Moglichkeit, das Objektiv abzudecken (Staubschutz).

This is my first Web Cam. I had no problems installing it on my PC (Windows XP SP3) by following the instructions provided. The single lead is terminated in a USB plug. I have subsequently installed on a new PC running Windows 7 SP1 with no problems. The software needed was automatically installed without the need of the original CD. One generic point to consider with web cams is the space they take up above the monitor. This one only just fitted above my monitor and below the shelf above it. This is not a criticism, merely an observation, and something I hadn't considered before buying. I am quite happy with the picture quality. It seems to work well in quite low light levels, even with faces in shadows. I am not sure quite what I was expecting here, but I am happy with the results. The pictures are adequately sharp and well exposed and the colours are correct and the picture is not excessively noisey - which ticks all the boxes for me. Sound-wise it works. As expected I found I had to turn the gain up on the sound channel in comparison with the boom mike I had previously used (the web-cam mike is a lot further away from me than the boom mike). With the gain set so high, the level of hiss also increased. I don't think the hiss is so bad that it could not be used, but on balance I have chosen to revert to the boom mike I already had. Overall I am happy to recommend the camera, but the sound is a little disappointing and certainly not a strong point (hence the 4 stars rather than 5). Nevertheless I think it is good value for money.

L'image est super. Le microphone ne marche pas. J'ai cherché sur le web, et apparemment le micro ne marche pas presque tout le temps, soit direct après sortir de la boite, soit après quelques mois d'utilisation. Mais j'ai gardé le webcam comme même et j'ai acheté un micro à part. L'autre chose que je n'aime pas, cet le bouton Microsoft Live Call, situé en haut du webcam. Si on appui dessous il lance le programme Live Call, mais j'utilse Skype. Le problème c'est que chaque fois je je touche le webcam (pour le réorienté) j'appuie, sans le vouloir, sur le bouton, et voila MS Live Call se lance encore. Peut-être c'est possible de désactiver ça mais je n'ai pas encore trouver. Le suivi de visage c'est moyen.

Achetée il y a plusieurs années cette Webcam a répondu en grande partie à mes attentes avec une bonne résolution ,un petit bémol au niveau de la fixation sur l'écran de l'ordinateur qui n'est pas assez ferme et doit être sans cesse remise en place . A présent avec mon portable je n'ai plus ce soucis puisque la caméra est incorporé à l'écran
