Great Helmet!!!! Nice features!!!!
First thing you need to do is COMPLETELY DISREGARD THE SIZE CHART!!!! The helmet runs small. I usually wear a medium helmet and this large fits snug with the adjuster all the way out. My wife would have fit a small size by the size chart. However, I ordered this Size Large for her and she uses the adjuster in the forward holes and it fits her perfectly!!!!! We have been using Bell Pit Boss helmets for 3 years now and we were fit in a Motorcycle Dealership store, so I already knew my wife and I both wore a size Large Bell Pit Boss Helmet. If I had followed the size chart, I would have ordered a Size Small for my wife and I’d be returning the helmet for a size Medium and then return the Medium for a size Large!!!! That’s one heck of a poor way to FINALLY get to the right size!!!!! I’m not going to punish the seller for the Size Chart. When you get the right size, YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS HELMET!!!! It’s perfect for Comm gear and you’ll love the adjuster for a true, custom fit!!!! I ordered the Matte Black helmet because they didn’t have the Carbon Fiber helmet. However, we are going to find a Graphics Design place and have some nice design added to the Helmet to match her 2019 Harley-Davidson Deluxe in Burnt Orange with Black trim. It’s a gorgeous bike for a gorgeous woman!!!! Now she has a new helmet to go with her new (to her) bike!!!! Happy Mother’s Day Babe!!!!!

Nice helmet
This is a nice helmet. Lighter than expected and very comfortable. I like the flip down eye shield and the removable neck and ear cover. These will be nice in cool weather. Based on their sizing chart, I was at the top end of the med range. It fit really tight. I returned it and reordered the large. A very easy transaction and the shipping was super fast.

Like Others Mention, Tensioner Wheel is the Worst Feature
I like my new helmet because it is light, fits well and provides the level of protection I've come to expect from Bell. Being summer I immediately removed the neck and ear warmer, taking only moments. Well designed and thought out with one exception (and why it only gets 4 stars). The thumb wheel for sizing the helmet. The thumb-wheel tightens quick and easy. Unfortunately loosening it is a different story. I've used this type of adjustment on hard hats and other Bell helmets, and never had this kind of difficulty adjusting them. I was over zealous with my first adjustment and 10 minutes into my test ride needed to loosen the tensioner. Tightening was one gloved hand while I was wearing the helmet and on the bike. Loosening was minutes of attempting to loosen it while on the bike, gloves on. Then more minutes off the bike, gloves and helmet removed. The thumb wheel is designed to tighten, and tighten, and tighten more. It feels like they only considered making it tighter. The thumb wheel is also much sloppier in its adjustment than my previous Bell helmets, and no where near the quality of my $30 hard hat adjustment. But I probably won't need to adjust it ever again as now have the Goldilocks setting. It is 'just right.' I appreciate the flip-down tinted visor but have sunglasses I prefer to wear. I may eventually switch to clear lens glasses and use the visor like I do with my full-face helmet. I do find the lever for the visor is in my peripheral vision and draws my attention every time I look left. I'm just not sure how else they could have worked that. Most of the full-face-like options aren't very applicable to a half-helmet. I do like the bill (they call it a visor). I didn't have that on my last half-helmet and find it very useful. When the sun gets low, it helps keep it out of my eyes directly. Much nicer than tipping my head forward to try and block the sun.

Very comfortable half helmet - no lift at highway speed
UPDATE after several rides at bottom: I got this helmet for warm-weather riding and it's great. The sizing is correct (IMO) and the micro adjustment is also very useful. The helmet doesn't lift at all at highway speed and is overall comfortable for riding. It also fits well over a mesh skullcap. It looks very retro and somehow Bell has avoided the mushroom-cap look of a lot of half-helmets. I didn't need the pull-down visor on my trial ride so I can't comment on that. I tried the drop-down visor and the optics are wavy - the plastic is not very good for regular use but might be helpful in rain. Also, I find the helmet too noisy to wear without the neck curtain but the neck curtain is IMO fine in warm weather. Also, there are pockets in the ear areas of the neck curtain that I assume are for speakers. Bluetooth speakers would fit and I will be trying out wired speakers soon. The next curtain is removable for washing, cleaning, etc. I have worn this helmet for several hundred miles in New England summer now and have grown to like it a lot. It will be my primary helmet for anything but hard winter riding.

A great design hampered by a poor strap (Bumped up to 3.5 stars)
The helmet looks good and is well made. Excellent features for the price range, and has replacement parts available. Unfortunately, the chin strap is not great, yet non-replaceable. It's a single strap, as well. I am editing this to say that there are several ways you can fasten it, including a way to take the helmet off without choking yourself. You have to figure that out on your own, though, since the manual doesn't explain. Thanks to Robert, I was shown that there is a way to remove the dial-fit without destroying it. Out of the box it fits terribly because of the 'dial fit' strap in the back. So odd, since the head cavity is perfectly designed. Turns out that the dial-fit has two positions, and it was installed in the one that results in a smaller fit. It CAN be removed (very carefully) without destroying the helmet. I would call this a defect of manufacturing, since EVERYONE is complaining about the fact that the helmet needs to be one to two sizes larger. However, that doesn't fix the issue, and makes the helmet less safe since the larger sizes will be loose on the sides. I need a snug, safe fit, and not a piece of plastic digging into the back of my neck. Update: The 'dial fit' dial popped out along with another part. Now it fits correctly. Update update: I removed the dial-fit entirely. I've been using this helmet for a while, it's very comfortable, and stays put when riding. I switched the drop-down visor for the clear one.

Lid's On
I love the Bell Pit Boss! Light weight, superior fit and nice styling make for a great helmet. This is my second one. The first, Black w/ Red and White Tribal print, is over 5 years old and still being used. The only thing is that the vinyl on the chin/cheek straps started peeling. Oh, well- just made it look more rugged! Pit Boss Rules.... alternative visors (clear and mirrored) purchased for night riding and ultimate sun blockage.

No mushroom head
I'm usually a sportbike girl with a full face helmet and all the protective gear. I finally decided to go back to a cruiser for comfort. I've never been a fan of half helmets. I decided to try this Pit Boss because of all the great reviews. Comfort is great. I love the pockets on the ear pads to hold my communicator speakers. I do feel like a character from A Bug's Life movie with the visor down but I don't have a mushroom head like some half helmets I've tried on. The visor comes down a good amount, covering part of my face as well. It also fits over my glasses. I usually take a MD in helmets but I tried this one in a MD and it was a bit tight around my head and the visor would not come down over my glasses at all. So I'd say these run a bit small. The adjuster at the base of your scull is perfect for getting a snug fit. I don't feel the helmet being lifted at all at highway speeds. Overall I'm very happy with my goofy looking half helmet for warm summer rides.

Great helmet for the heat and X-country
I bought this to replace my old worn out Pit Boss. The old one lasted 30K+ miles; years of 100+ temps, rain and snow. It was a great helmet, so much I bought another. I like the rear ratchet that keeps the helmet from tilting up in strong winds and the built-in drop down shield. The SENA half helmet intercom unit installs easily on this helmet. My old Pit Boss was a great helmet and I'm very glad Bell still makes them.
