will it blend?

I have the model that is even older than this one (with just 4 speeds plus S and P -- for Stop/Start and Pulse). I got it about 20 years ago in 1999 and the motor is still going strong. Today I use it mostly for making flour from hard wheat berries or rye berries to make bread and for green smoothies. The only issues I ever had were with the containers. Before I started gently holding the container in place when blending, I seemed to need a new container every 2-3 years. Since I learned from a chef that I was abusing the blender by NOT holding it, my current container has lasted at least 10 years -- the 4-walled one -- but the wildside jar did not last. I do not recommend the wildside jar and only because I don't want to pay $100 or whatever it costs today every couple of years. GREAT blender. I know a lot of people say the VitaMix is better, but until only very recently the Vitamix was too tall to fit under most kitchen cabinets. I'm VERY pleased with the "original" blender!

How does it compare to Vitamix?

Vitamix is much, much better! My family members have had theirs for 10 years with no problems, but, wanting to try something different, I bought the Blendtec instead. It worked fine until right after the warranty expired. I called their customer service and they were almost rude to me, stating that, after all, "it is a business" and they refused to fix it under warranty (even though it just expired). They wanted to sell me a refurbished one, instead. So, I bought the Vitamix and am very happy with it. Here's what Blendtec says about their warranty on line, "Product Warranty obligations are limited to those set forth in the printed literature included with the Products. For complete warranty details, call 1-800-BLENDTEC." Why won't they tell you upfront about their warranty? I will never buy another Blendec product because of their customer service. Both are a lot of money, but I'm sticking with the more established and reputable company who has been in business since 1921.

Hi, the voltage of this machine is only 110v or 110v~220v?  Thanks

This machine uses 110-120V, only.  It is not rated nor equipped to handle 220-240V.  A higher voltage model may be available, but I don't know.

Does this machine chop, like a food processor, or would it just turn veg to mush?

This is a BLENDER, not food processor.  The blades are designed to stir up liquid material with solids floating on top.  Bottom should be liquid or you will damage the blender.  If you want to make a liquid mush, use liquid at the bottom first then add solids on top.
A FOOD PROCESSOR is designed to chop, slice, or grind dry food without liquids.  Blades are positioned and designed differently.
