First, I would use an old phone as a hotspot. The Flexiroam starter pack comes with a sim 'sticker' that sticks onto/over an existing sim card. I don't want to put this on my every day SIM, so I used my old iPhone 6 and the old, inactive SIM I had with it. Follow the prompts in the app for easy set up of the SIM and settings and you'll be up and running in no time. As shown in my first image, you can search for country specific data plans....or global data plans (that are valid in over 150 countries). If you're having trouble connecting when you're in the country, be sure to check the "coverage" options for your country. In my example, I am showing Japan. The "partner list" for Japan shows KDDI and NTT Docomo. If your phone doesn't automatically connect and start working with the Flexiroam, you may have to go into your carrier settings and change the selection from automatic, to manual. And select the appropriate partner network. Other than this, I've had no problems. I've used Flexiroam in India, Japan, China, Vietnam, S. Korea, Morocco, Mauritania, Europe, and others that I'm sure I'm forgetting. I travel frequently for work...and a lot of the places I go are off the beaten path. Flexiroam has saved my company a bundle, as AT&T or Verizon international plans / overages can add up quickly. Review: Unreliable - Spotty service: sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it did not, spent a lot of time trying yo get it to work to no avail. Unreliable, would not recommend it.

Don’t waste your $$
Very poor customer support. Not useful. Slows down home network while in the US.

Definitely recommend to have it if you are a frequent worldwide traveler
I travel abroad a lot,I used to buy the local SIM card,it might be slightly cheaper, but it’s quite time consuming when you buy it from the local seller especially if there is language barrier. I found this microchip when I did research online by chance, then I decided to give a try,I’m so happy with that decision, I’m traveling in Columbia now,the internet works perfectly, and it’s very easy to switch between the home sim card and the Flexiroam kit.A small change can make a big difference,I highly recommend it.

Crumbling Service
I have been using it for about 6 years now. Was good a few years back but very expensive…$30 for 1 GB global data valid for 3 months. Then COVID came and they started reducing prices to match with POKEYFI…which offers…5 GB valid for 2 years for $15. Further when you buy it the first time it comes preloaded with 5 GB valid for 5 years. They started removing expensive places one by one and there are many places now where their “GLOBAL DATA” no longer works and one has to buy expensive regional or local packs. ..what happened to global? Why not pick up a local sim then. Then I found it would not work in China and New Zealand too despite it showing as Global Data. Does not work in Maldives, Seychelles, Indonesia, UAE on global data. Earlier you could share data with others with no conditions……now one can only share if the other person has bought a similar plan……basically forcing everyone to buy the same plan…..which begs the question……why share if the person already has been compelled to buy that same plan? Ever so often, the sim does not connect and customer service starts by beating around the bush and then …..if you still haven’t given up answering their step 1, step 2, step 3……….questions….finally admit that there is a “ technical issue” and they will look into it. By then your trip/ holiday is OVER pretty much just as this service is headed. Shame that a brilliant service would fall apart like this.
