Webster's Dictionary for Students, Fourth Edition

I purchased 3 of these for my children. Today when one of my children could not find the section for words beginning with the letter M, I assumed she was being obstinate and defiant and started threatening consequences. I then told her to find it in the next two minutes or she would be punished. She brought me the dictionary and there are 65 pages missing. The dictionary not only skips from page 246 to 311, 311-374 are duplicated.I am just pass the deadline for returning this dictionary. It did not occur to me that I would need to go through to check it for accuracy or completeness.If you purchase this dictionary please look through it, page by page to make sure there are not missing sections or duplicated sections.

It's an ok dictionary. Some words on my son's 3rd grade vocabulary lists aren't in here. Some of the words are surprising as they aren't that obscure. Kind of disappointing he has to look things up online anyway which is what I was trying to avoid.

I teach 4th grade and use these with my students all year. They are easy for 4th graders to use and their definitions are easy to understand for elementary school students. We find most words needed for state test practice. The only reason why I gave this product a 4 star rating is because they split. Their pages are glued to the spine and students tend to split them with heavy use. At least my school's librarian has a machine to fix them and I get to extend the life of these dictionaries. They are still my preferred dictionary for classroom use. I order them for my students in the beggining of each school year. I will continue using these!

I ordered this dictionary for my 5th grader. After the return time we started to discover that there are simple words missing from it. Mind you, this is 5th grade vocabulary, so words like resilient. Absolute waste of money and its too late to get my money back. Don't waste yours.

The title states “Dictionary for Students “! I’d like to suggest a qualifier for the grade level of students. I frequently use a dictionary to check my spelling. I recently had a stroke & was using the Dict as a quick spell check. Got v frustrated! This low-level dictionary did not list many of the words I wanted to check. Here is a partial list of what I would consider maybe middle school & high school words that were not included: chiaroscuro,deleterious, egregious, extirpate,fulminate, nefarious, obfuscate, obsequious, sedition, syzygy, sycophant

Confuses my daughter more than it helps her. We are trying to read Peter Pan and it is missing several words from the book. Does not have pronunciation, example sentences, or pictures.

This is a great student dictionary. It is lightweight and good to travel in a backpack back and forth to school if needed. The size is good for my third graders hands. My neighbor bought two for her house of 2nd- 9th graders after borrowing ours.

what is there to say about a dictionary?? it has everything you need in it - convenient in paperback, so I travel with it to tutoring students so it is ideal for me. if I were using it at home I might want a bigger hardback, but I couldn't use that with students away from home, so this is perfect. I didn't really find any other brand besides Webster's so i'm not sure what the competition might be like, but I am totally satisfied with this one

This dictionary give clear definitions which I really appreciate. The number of words is somewhat limited so another dictionary is needed as well, but what I like about checking this one first is that this one gives well written and easy to understand explanation.

Decent dictionary. Still too advanced for younger kids. Took two stars off as book had large rip on cover that I had to tape up.

My kids aged 9 and 10 love their dictionaries. They use the frequently aand they find them easy to use.

昨日届きました。この辞書は発音記号が載ってるやつじゃなかったみたいです。Merriam-Websterの発音記号のセンスが好きだったのでそこは残念ですが簡潔で分かり易く、辞書もお安い値段で 買ってよかったと思ってます。8-11才の子に理想的なボキャブラリーらしいのですが、それでもいいです。英語やり直します！

子供の学校用に購入。持ち歩くサイズだと思いますが発音記号の表記がないのがすこしざんねんです。
