I'm hot. All the time. Every night, no matter the temperature. My wife, on the other hand, gets a shiver when the temperature dips below 85F. So I sleep with a fan, but all the other models we've tried (and we've tried dozens) are either too loud or not focused enough or poor quality. Not this one. My goodness it's awesome in every way. Small fan blades so it doesn't take up the whole room and the stand is just the right height for sleeping. The best feature, though, is the DC motor: ultra-quiet yet strong enough to vent an entire house if needed. Instead of three settings, it has a dial to get the airflow just right and even at medium-high speeds, it's incredibly quiet. Excellent product and well worth the money.

This is a wonderful product and Vornado is a great company to do business with. This is nice looking, easy to move and pivot. It's helping so much. The dogs appreciate it too! I'm impressed with Vornado. I have one of their smaller sized fans that I'd had for years of flawless service. But it finally gave up after 15 years of hard use. Funny, I couldn't bear to put it in the landfill, so I contacted Vornade and told them exactly that. I asked them if they couldn't please help this old "friend" of mine. I was shocked when they wrote back and said, "Send it to us." Long story short, it came back good as new and is back on duty. I like companies that are willing to do that. I can't stand a Throw-It-Away Society.

All my fans are Vornado. I have purchased many fans over the years and this brand is certainly the best by far!!! It’s quiet and the most important thing is it’s so easy to clean!!! the front of the fan just pops off and you can just clean it in your sink with a little Dawn detergent and that’s about it! Easy peazy!

I am pleased with this fan. It is replacing an older model of Vornado fan which I botched taking apart for cleaning once upon a time and was never quite as quiet since then. This one is easier to take apart, and instead of just a high-medium-low speed control, it is a variable knob. Things that are good: *The build quality *The airflow (when on a high setting) *The stand is quite stable *The airflow to noise ratio at medium to medium-high speed is appealing to my preferences *The claim about generating a cyclical air circulation in the room seems well-founded Things that could be improved: *Airflow on the low setting is very very low - albeit very quiet. On the lowest setting it does not seem useful to me, but there could be a type of person who wants that. *There is an almost laptop-style power adapter and the connection from it to the fan housing doesn't seem all that secure. It has not come unplugged by accident so far, and to be fair it could be considered a safety feature from a certain perspective. *Depending on what's important to you, the higher price compared to the less expensive Vornado models may not be worth it.

I've had Vornado fans for years. Wanted a variable speed pedestal fan for my son's room. I have a 785 but they don't make that model anymore which is very unfortunate. I purchased and returned this 693DC, was very disappointed in the quality of the fan, the plug did not fit in to the bottom of the fan head, the fan itself was a lot lighter in weight than my other 785 fan and felt like it was not made as well. My old 785 was about 48 inches high which was high enough for the air to flow over our couch and our bed. This 693 is much shorter even at it's highest height and the air doesn't flow over furniture. I wish Vornado would go back to making variable speed pedestal fans that are at least 48 inches high. Looking at other brands now to find what I need.

Game changer!

Absolutely love there is no remote..that might be nice when I'm sleeping to turn it off when I get cold but this fan can be turned to just a slight breeze to full blast or anywhere in between. I was looking for a fan I could use in winter as well as summer. My puppy loves it too. I always liked the noise of a fan but I think I like it more it doesn't make any noise unless its turned up on high. Just buy it you won't be disappointed.

Love the variable speed knob on back of fan motor housing. Noise goes up with air velocity. Not the same as a ceiling fan which is virtual silent. Apartment living I have no electric junction box on the ceiling….

Lots of airflow with low noise. Surprised others have said it’s loud. Only on the highest setting is it loud. But it’s infinitely adjustable.

Thanks KFH for answering my question about the fan warranty covering Canadian customers. Because it was a couple of years ago that your refund was processed, I decided to verify directly with Vornado Customer Support that they still issue refunds to Canadian customers within the warranty period. Customer Support contacted me the following day and confirmed they do issue a refund for the cost of the fan, but not for the tax or shipping. I was most impressed with Vornado Customer Service and promptly ordered the Vornado 693DC fan.

The base design is horrible, worst I’ve ever seen. It is very easy to knock over, making it super unsafe if you have young children or pets. The fact that the base sits on rubber stoppers instead of a solid robber pad makes it even worse.
