Great product, full USB 3
Great product, full USB 3.0 speed through hub and included power adapter means that I know I won't draw too much current for one port. FYI, it does work quite happily as a hub and with ethernet functionality without the power supply but I've not tried this with much data throughput. Powered, the ethernet port is fast enough to (almost) saturate a gigabit connection (~110MB/sec) but I am almost certain this is due to overheads, cable length and other networking variables which are of no fault of the hub.

Probably excellent, but not capabale of providing an independent Ethernet to USB connection
This was bought to provide me with a means of connecting a USB printer to the Ethernet, so all our home machines could print to it without having to leave a dedicated PC running, or an NAS drive. The specification says it can communicate bi-directionally, but at n point does it say it has to be plugged into a computer USB socket to operate. For this reason, I had to send it back. Had I wanted a fast adaptor to plug into a device without a USB3 port, ort an Ethernet port, then it would have been great, Quality was good, and it was very small.

Very nice product. The Ethernet did require drivers for my MacBook Pro Yosemite 10.10 - but no problem. They came down fine and installed and worked perfectly. My only criticism is that the blue LED on the back is very bright indeed and almost lights up the room at night :-)

Sort of ok
Nice and small. Fits under desk in wiring tray. Occasionally just stops working. Unplugging the cable to the computer and plugging back in does fix it but annoying.

Does what is says on the box!
I bought this to connect my new MS Surface Pro to my Ethernet network and to a big Dell touchscreen, wireless mouse and keyboard. It works perfectly, turning this highly mobile tablet into a perfect desktop PC!

Unreliable
Had trouble re-establishing network connection when powered off every night. Had to unplug then reconnect to Macbook Pro to get ethernet working every morning. Tried updating drivers & firmware to no avail, in fact firmware update from StarTech website rendered USB ports unuseable. Would recommend looking for a more reliable brand. Update: Tried 2018 Startech driver update and it fixed the ethernet connection, but the USB ports still don't work. Using an Apple USB Ethernet Adaptor instead. Am now trying to get a replacement from Startech as it has a 2 year warranty. My advise is to avoid this type of device and get a dedicated USB hub as it shouldn't need drivers.

Much smaller than it looks, and works perfectly under Linux
I just bought a new Toshiba Kirabook (which is an ultrabook), and since it doesn't have an ethernet port, and I have often run out of USB ports, I thought I'd look for something like this. I looked at this for a while, debating whether to get it or not, because I wasn't sure how portable it would be. I also looked at separate USB / ethernet adaptors and hubs to see if they would be better suited to my needs. I needn't have worried - the dimensions that are given in the product description are actually for the box it comes in! The actual dimensions of the unit itself are about 9.2 cm x 6.6 cm x 1.5 cm .. pretty tiny! I like it because I can use it on its own (without any external power) for portability, but use the external power supply when I need to power something heavy like an external hard drive. I am using it with Linux, and it even worked with the Linux Mint live distro (both ethernet and USB hub). One thing I did notice is that my Kirabook had a bit of a stumble when this unit was plugged in and connected to an ethernet cable, though it might have been just some sort of delay (perhaps looking for network boot?). Certainly it is quicker booting without it connected. Just out of curiosity, I tried it with a Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (via a USB Host / OTG cable): the hub part worked fine - the mouse I connected showed up as a pointer on the screen), but unfortunately the network connection didn't seem to register. It may be that other Android devices have suitable drivers for it. All-in-all, this is a very nice little device, and suits my needs perfectly. If it came in silver, it would get 5 stars :-)

Does exactly what it says on the tin. Mostly works without external power, except when my surface pro 3 is low on charge. USB3 cable is fairly chunky and inflexible.
