Easy to build in! Powers a media server just fine.
This is a great little NUC. 8th gen is becoming a little long in the tooth, but for general light usage this i3 will serve 99% of people fine. For my usage, it's a dedicated PLEX server, Ubiquiti Unifi controller, and a few other light server loads. The GPU is powerful enough for transcoding work on the media server, making me wonder why I ran a giant server for so many years. I put an nvme SSD in mine with 16 gigs of ram and I think it's even faster than the server it replaced. While not officially supported on Server 2019, I was able to do some driver modifications to get it working great. For CPU intensive tasks, this 8th gen starts to show its age in 2021, but paired with good RAM and storage it's no slouch. This machine will be fine for modern operating systems, servers, and the web for a few years to come. Noise levels even under load are great, but in full disclosure I run it in a network rack anyway. This thing barely sips power, too.

Small, Fast, Quiet, Cheap
This little NUC is amazing. I paired this up with an ADATA XPG 8200 512 GB M.2 SSD. The speed of this PC is amazing. After setting up the BIOS to use Quick Boot, I can restart the PC and be back in Windows (logged in) in about 20 seconds from starting the restart process. Visual Studio Code and Visual Studio 2017 load in about 7 seconds. I replaced my 6th gen Core i3 based NUC with this model and the difference is night and day. Much faster. Even the WiFi connection appears to be faster, though that may just be in my head. Overall great value for dollar. I don't think I'm missing anything without the 2 extra cores since this even has HyperThreading. I can also run SQL Server and that's plenty fast as well. Overall a great developer system and I can do some light 3D gaming like Age of Empires at 1920x1200 and it's OK since it has the Intel Iris Plus graphics on-die. Would buy again and recommend to friend.

This was a pretty good machine - wasn't plagued by the infamous no-wake bug like 7th gen had.
My family is STILL using this machine at the front of the family room for playing games and such (using batocera, highly recommended). The power brick not being a wall-wart is mildly disappointing, but I think they had to stop doing that due to the amount of power needed nowadays in these things. You can find different colored lids online too. Love our customized little machine. Can emulate (albeit a little slowly sometimes) everything up through NGC.

Great computer, used 2.5" SSD drive - video conferencing on 55" TV works great!
I had a leftover 2.5" SSD drive so bought this "tall" NUC which supports that and it works great with only that drive. On the "short" NUC you must use an M.2 form factor drive. I like that this has a full sized HDMI port too - which really makes a difference as on older NUCs this mini-HDMI port would sometimes be problematic due to lack of high quality mini-HDMI adapters on the market. I stuck this NUC behind a TV and use it for video conferencing. It is plenty powerful for full screen, high definition graphics using Skype in multi-party video conferences.

I really like the Intel NUC! No more bulky desktops for me.
I am really enjoying and getting a lot of use out of my Intel NUC 8 i3 (Tall). I installed Samsung 240GB SSD drive, 8GB of Corsair Vengeance RAM and Windows 10 Home. Assembly was very easy, straightforward and fast. The Intel 8th Gen i3 processor is plenty fast for my internet browsing, video and TV watching and using Microsoft Office at home. I am running two monitors and using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. Intel has programs for NUCs on its website to download and keep the computer drivers and BIOS up to date. Very little fan noise. Runs cool in my configuration. I am planning to buy a NUC i5 for my use at the office and another for the house for photo and video editing. Great experience so far! No more big and bulky desktops for me! Update: I bought one of the "refurbished" 8th Gen Intel i5 NUCs from OEM XS since my original purchase of the i3 NUC, and it came in factory packaging with all the parts, accessories and documentation (still sealed). The CPU looks new and was made almost a year ago. This time I added Samsung 250gb M.2 NVMe and 250gb 2.5" SATA drives (Tall NUC) and 16gb of Corsair Vengeance RAM. It is very fast. The i3 processor is still very capable for most people. I do a little photo and video editing and web design work, so I wanted a little more processing ability and speed with the i5 version. I am using the i3 NUC as a backup, portable and home theater computer now.

Great mini PC but a bit expensive You can get a laptop at this price !
That a wonderful mini PC except for the price. It lacks some ports like another HDMI port for dual screen. Overall a nice mini PC. The i3 coupled with a Samsung 860 EVO works prefect. No lag at all and the device is perfect for small works . Can easily add additional 2.5" hard disk if needed. RAM goes up to DDR4.

Intel i3 8th gen is good.
2 cores 4 threads, max 32gb 2400mhz,has a thunderbolt up to 4 monitors(i checked) and 4K ready. The unit comes without RAM and storage,it is Linux compatible. Its pretty quiet and the unit is only 11.5cm x 11.5cm x 5cm. For the people who are installing OS for the first time, boot up and go in BIOS (violently smash F8 key) and dissable network booting up,turn of legacy and secure boot(for Linux) and after all that turn of the unit, plug in USB and boot up. It should show you the installer. After that may God help you. Isaiah 49:15-16

Delivered just what I ordered
The NUC8i3BEH was properly packaged. After adding 250 GB M.2 internal SSD and 16GB (8GBx2) connecting USB keyboard and mouse I booted from a USB drive with Ubuntu 18.04. I installed OS with no problems. I didn't care to much for the Intel documentation provided; I think they could do a better job on this. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase.
