This is a practical text in plain English that provides a good coverage of pumps beyond that covered in a typical undergraduate engineering program. A good reference for further self-study for nonspecialists. The book is mostly using imperial units and repetitively provides equations for differing units.

This is an excellent book for anyone involved in specifying pumps. It presents a very clear description of evaluating pump curves and creating system curves. It is also extremely helpful in describing electrical components associated with pump selection; and providing guidance in decreasing energy costs associated with pump usage (most notably the use of variable frequency drives). Important descriptions to me were on ODP and TEFC pumps, stuffing boxes and mechanical seals (including tandem mechanical seals), power factor penalty, vertical turbine pumps, the meaning of "soft start"; as well as other information.

An excellent reference book which should be in any engineers library. Author has put together a well thought out book which is easy to read and which covers a tremendous amount of material. This book could serve as a "text book" allowing a person to gain a familiarity with pumps in an organized manner.

A bit too detailed for most people. Great for specific information and minute details.
