Gentle reminder, or new info, depending on what school you came from.
Great book on body Mechanics. We all need a reminder when our bodies say ow or just that achy, not quite right.... we are probably able to adjust something for optimal use of our bodies to reduce injury. This book should have the correction needed, It's pretty concise. Ever Massage therapist should be taught proper mechanics. Not all were. I was & sometimes I get slack & for get.

I highly recommend this book. If you have every suffered from pain or injury from doing massage you need this book. It actually should be part of every massage school curriculum. It has given me so many tips and reminders of what I did learn in massage school and what I should be doing in the treatment room every time I give a massage!

Holy crap.
I wish they'd taught this stuff in school. They told us we'd "eventually pick it up on our own", but several overuse injuries later proved that that would not be happening. This book not only shows you what to do, but what to avoid, and gives you options based on your body type - tall, short, hypermobile hands, etc. I love it. I wish it had been a required textbook. I'm glad I bought it. I'm only a few months into my professional practice and I can already see the physical changes in my hands due to work (I have extremely hypermobile fingers). I need this book to be able to work more than a year. If you're like me, you need this book too.

... book after experiencing thumb and wrist pain and can't recommend it highly enough
Bought this book after experiencing thumb and wrist pain and can't recommend it highly enough. The size of the book is a bit daunting but it contains so much helpful information and photos and is really easy to follow (though it is probably aimed more at the experienced therapist). In a very short time I've already noticed the benefits of adapting my technique and posture. The pain has noticeably reduced and I have less muscle tension after carrying out treatments. It is an excellent reference book to dip in and out of. Well worth the money!

What an amazing book
This is a true bible for bodyworkers with hundreds of photo illustrations and great tips about what to do and not do when massaging. I was staggered by the sheer size of the book as well. At over 600 pages long it is packed with information. The only disadvantage - if you can call it that - is that it's so big and heavy you really need a book rest to read it easily, but I'm not complaining, it's amazing value for money. I really wish I'd known about this book years ago when I first started out.
