Weaver Leather Professional Thin Style Shank Bit

I tried this bit on both of my horses. One horse has never been in a curb before, so I realize that she was not going to love this bit on first try. Maybe she will get used to it. My other horse, has been in a curb, but I have been riding him in a snaffle for the last four years that I have had him. He gaped and did not like the bit at all. He may be just not used to it. I rode with very little rein contact, as you do with a curb and a horse that is trained to neck rein, as he is. But perhaps because of riding him in a snaffle, riding with two hands, as if riding English, with contact, he isn't used to that anymore. I will try again, and see if he likes it. The bit *looks* nice, but a bit is about functionality, not about looks. Though I have to say I bought it partially on looks. The shanks are a brown color, and it comes off. On everything. The sweet iron, I suppose. So you need to be careful with the bit and handling it and not allowing it to get on things you don't want colored by it. I didn't like that about it. I thought the shanks would be a little more swept back than they really are, too. But maybe that was just my perception. I will update this review after trying the bit out a few more times on my horses.
