what are the cutting heights

Is it in the manual? I always cut mine on the third notch, lawn is always green, no bald patches and no scorching in the summer. I LOVE my HAYTER !!!

Does this seem heavy when in self propelled mode

No. It is not heavy when in self propelled mode. I use the lowest and next lowest speeds when using the mower. The faster speed positions are extremely fast but having said that, this is a brilliant mower. David Johnson

No, pull on the rope to start it. Quality engine starts very easily though.
