Do these "central vac" fittings work with the fitting for dust collection for woodworking? I tried the plumbing PVC fittings and they don't fit.

No they do not. There was a smaller dust collection system that used to be sold by Sears, and I know now is sold by shopvac. It works well with shopvac accessories. I have one of these systems hooked into my standard 4 inch collector with adaptors. Shopvac components cost$$$$, so I was very happy to find about the airvac parts at $

Is this pipe rated for pressure? does it say nsf-pw?

No this is not for high pressure. It is only for central vacuum systems.

Can you hook up a wall plate directly to this fitting or do I need something else?

No, you can not connect a central vac finish wall inlet valve directly to ANY central vac fitting or pipe! An inlet valve mounting plate / rough-in plate MUST be used; as it is the only proper method for making an air-tight seal...

What is the outside diameter of pipe (or tube) is this used for.

The pipe that fits in this fitting is 2 inches in diameter. That is the outside dimension of the pipe. The outside diameter of this fitting is 2 3/16 inches.. Note that this is not the same size as the 2" pipe you can buy at the hardware stores. There is an adapter fitting that can be bought to convert from one to the other if you want or need to do that. This pipe is for central vacuum cleaner connections.
