For a 1998 Astro, this thing is identical to the one being replaced. It works and got rid of the battery light on dash. Install was relatively easy, especially after bending the right side of mounting bracket outward a bit for increased clarence so the alternator can slide in a bit easier. The reason for bending the bracket backward is during previous install, chances are that the bracket has been pushed inward with the tightening of the mounting screw, making subsequent install a much tighter squeeze. We will see how long this lasts, but considering that alternators have been around for ages and with such mature technology, chances are things going wrong are practically nil. Very happy so far and even happier now that the price has gone up from $68 to well over $115.

Worked perfectly in my Chevy truck. Normally I don't write reviews, but this alternator cost me half the cost of the one I replaced 12 years ago, and half the cost of what Rock Auto wanted with the imposition of a core charge and return costs. I will buy spares for my other vehicles from these guys as an investment. Glad I checked Amazon before ordering. Thanks.

Nice alternator replacement, just doesn't have as high of amperage as my stock alternator did. On cold mornings it sometimes takes a little longer getting my truck (1998 3500 6.5L Chevy turbo diesel) to fully turnover. Otherwise a great buy and well made product!

It worked! Went in easy and provided the voltage that it was supposed to. Not much else to say really. A good product at a very reasonable price.

We installed this alternator and the battery warning light would not go out. DB Electrical rep in Tennessee advises the alternator is defective and I need to deal with Amazon for replacement. This is the first time I have had to return an item to Amazon for replacement, we'll see how it goes!! Turns out it was very easy to return the item and the new item arrived in record time. The new alternator is working properly at tis time. Amazon notified me that they have received the return so all is good. Pleased witht he service and with the product at this time.

The alternator fit perfectly and was the exact replacement for my original alternator. The output is 14.2 to 14.4 volts.
