Protects as promised.
This is the second purchase of Timbor for me. It treats and protects as promised. Last purchase was for an outdoor table and it is still big and fungus free tears after treatment. This is going to be used on rafters and beams in a shed. Great value. Great product. Will purchase again when the need arises. Follow the directions and you cannot go wrong. Low odor and no noticable smell after applying.

No mess no fuss - but will need some time to see if it works!
Decent product though we have only just applied it so cannot vouch for how it performs over time yet. Dont know why but every tub of powder was packaged in the box upside down. May not be a huge deal but a bit risky if box were dropped - though perhaps the tub would split regardless. Application was easy with backpack sprayer. Did not alter the finish of our pine logs (log home) and rails. Created a fine crystalline texture but not an issue - stained right over it once dry. Will update review once I have some time on this batch! Update after 12 months (5-20-2015) - We had no viable activity on the home prior to treatment and nothing in the 12 months following. We did however just catch a bumble bee in action drilling some sizable holes in a treated post. There is sawdust residue down the post showing activity. The product does not claim to treat for Bees so I cannot complain but it was impressive to see this guy at work. I will next be using a tub or two to treat a barn with considerable powder post beetle damage. Plan is to cease future damage and then make repairs as needed. Will post an update on this ongoing project!

EASY
GOOD STUFF!!!! Of course time will tell me how well it does its job, but easy to mix, dissolves well, and will spray out a garden pump sprayer. I didn't see anywhere on the Amazon site page where it said how much one bag will do until I got the product and read it does one gallon. But that was enough for what I was doing.

Mix rate from package, observations in use.
I received the white bag as on the Amazon ad. It was it its own cardboard box for shipping. Each bag is 1.5 pounds. The instructions on the back of the bag explain that one must mix one pound in one gallon of water for weaker 10% solution, or the entire 1.5 pound bag in one gallon of water for the stronger 15% solution. When you see the size of this bag, and compare it to a gallon milk jug (or yard sprayer), you'll scratch your head a bit; it'll be like someone telling you to dissolve four heaping scoops of chocolate drink mix in a single glass of milk. Indeed, many reviews state how hard it is to dissolve this amount of product in such a relatively small amount of water. Package also states to use immediately, which makes sense as the powder will settle out in about ten minutes or less otherwise. You'll have to keep shaking the bottle as you use it, if you're brushing it on then use an open container and keep the stirrer inside the bucket with your brush. While it may be good for spot treatment, such as termites around a couple of shed posts, it's not adequate for larger areas, such as the perimeter of a wooded house. You'll have to imagine a one gallon sprayer on steady stream going around the perimeter base of a wood house...I'd estimate an average homeowner will be mixing at least five bags of this product, at current price, about seventy bucks worth of product per application. The label does not specify the duration of efficacy, so it's unclear if this should be applied more than once yearly. As this is a salt-based "organic" product, I would estimate that using it more than once per year to achieve ultimate, lasting efficacy is key, particularly in areas subjected to weather. For my own comparison, the pest control guys (and I have no affiliation), when I used them, charged $75 per treatment, three treatments per year, and guaranteed no termites, carpenter ants, etc., and could provide documentation of ongoing treatment should I ever sell my house (required under state law here). Applying the Tim-bor three times a year to a house costs virtually the same. So, there's really many factors that each homeowner must assess for themselves. Does this work for termites? I don't know because I just sprayed it and time will tell. Something about it tells me that it may wash off quite quickly in rain-exposed areas, but we'll see. It is different than the chemicals used by the pest controllers, that much is true. All in all, I probably would not...taking the cost, lack of necessary treatment documentation, effort of mixing gallon after gallon, gummy sprayer nozzle, etc....use this in a consistent basis. I might use it if, like some reviewers, I had a single termited bench, fence post, small tool shed base, etc. Yoir mileage may vary. On products such as this, there are loads of opinions based in science, anecdote, and mythology, often mired in unnecessary discourse about the harm to health of chemicals used by pest controllers, and such; if you have input, write a review, it'll get many more "eyeballs" than commenting here. Thanks. For those that this helped, keep fighting the good fight. Cheers, fellow Earth-dwellers.

Time will tell.
I bought two bags which was more than enough to cover the back of my 56’ home, bare wood siding recently installed. We boiled one gallon of water and then instantly mixed the powder in and had no issue dissolving like other reviews have stated. On the first pass, we followed instructions with 1 gallon water to one bag of powder for the 15% solution. One the second pass, we did as another poster suggested and mixed with half gallon of antifreeze, half gallon boiling water, one bag of powder. It instantly absorbed into to wood so much faster than the first coating. Ease of use and price of product is a win for me! Only time will tell how well this product works, but I’m hoping that I have as much success battling off termites as others have had! When I bought my home, it passed inspection for termites. In less than a year we started to find termite damage throughout the house. I used termidor foam in the house, taurus in trenches around the slab, and within 6 months found new termite damage in my shop out back, but none in the house or around the front of shop that was also treated. We redid the entire house and all buildings with the trenching and Taurus treatment and have seen no new termite damage since. Hurricane Harvey damaged siding to the home and I haven’t been able to repair this. We had an energy company test the home and found that there was tons of air leakage where the missing siding was. This was putting a strain on my AC and raising my utility bill to an astronomical size! I had enough Bead Plywood to use as siding but have been reluctant due to previous termite issues. This product, my research into it, and all of the positive reviews gave me hope. If I can use what I have, treat it with this stuff, and replace the siding and it work for a few years until I can have the entire home re-sides, then I’ll be through the roof with excitement! Only time will tell.
