How many mm thick is the nylon?

Hi how are you doing! Measured and it's around 2 mm thick for the nylon. Thank you and enjoy!

Do the loops cinch tighter or are they fixed size loops?

Ine end has a loop the other a caribiner. I put the loop end through my camera and then slid the xarivjner end through the loop thus securing it tot he camera.

Will this work as a safety strap to connect my camera to a tripod?

It's just a strap with a loop connector on one end (that you might loop through the camera strap connector on your camera and a carabiner connector on the other that you could probably attach to your tripod if it's long enough.
