This thing is awesome!
My dad sent us one of these as a gift. It was supposed to be for us to use in the backyard, but I quickly adopted it as my bedside light (which I use while my husband is asleep, so a lamp is too bright). My daughter loved it too, so I also bought a 2nd one for her. I accidentally ordered the plain white-light one, though I prefer this color one. Didn't read the choices well enough so now I have an extra. Oh well. This light is neat for many reasons. (1) It has 3 brightnesses for the basic white light. The dimmest one is fabulous for non-disruptive bedside light (2) Because of it's pop-up design, the more you open it, the brighter it is, and the more you flatten it, the dimmer it is. So within the 3 brightness settings, you also have fine-tuning controls, essentially. (3) It has little holes for hooks or strings on 2 sides, as well as a handle - you can hang it so many ways! And you can just use a little stick-on hook and flatten it and have a nice little light, or whatever. Options! (4) You charge it instead of using batteries! And it uses the same cord as nearly all cell phones! So I just plug it into my bedside phone charger when it dies (and it lasts a good long while, too) (5) It has candlelight mode! Flicker, flicker! (6) Colors! You can do a color-changing setting, or set it to just one color - again, brighter if open / dimmer as it's flattened. Sometimes I read by cyan half flattened. It's got a nice contrast. (7) It's light, and can be flattened, so super portable! And it opens to be fairly tall! If used outdoors it's not going to be one of those super-bright lanterns that lights your whole campground. But it will be a nice ambient light that is plenty bright to do stuff by, and makes an awesome indoor light as well. And it's fun for kids to play with - which is why my dad bought it for us to start with. :)

Great light
Excellent product. Provides a nice mild light when camping or if the power goes out. Collapsible feature makes storing and transportation easy.

Be sure to turn off "demo mode"
The lantern itself is great. I've only had it for a week or so, and I think it will be a nice addition to the motocamping / overlanding setup due to its compatibility and light weight. I watched a few YouTube videos on it before it arrived to figure out how to work it, which seems fairly self-evident, but when it arrives, it is in "demo mode," so be sure to turn that off to get it to work properly. I was getting frustrated for a few minutes until I figured that important detail out. Hopefully it can hold up to the punishment of being stuffed in a dusty saddle bag and the constant bumping up and down of the trail. We'll see.

Fun, lightweight light!
I love this little light! My brother had recommended this to me for backpacking as it is very lightweight & collapsible. Surprisingly bright, and it takes up very little room in my pack. It has a little loop for a carabiner if you want to hook it to the outside of your bag as well. I also love the color-change feature! It holds a charge for a decent amount of time....I accidentally fell asleep with it on the first night of a multi-day trip, and it still lasted through the majority of the next night. I havenโt tried the solar-charge feature yet, so not sure how well it works, but plan on trying that out on my next trip.

Good little camp/night light
This is a good light for car camping, camping in general and as a night light. I mostly use the white setting on it because it is a "warm" white which was super important to me. It is also dimmable which is awesome. The collapsibility of it is great as well. I really like the light BUT i did notice it selling at $35-$36 and that is why i am writing this review. That is A LOT of money for this item in my opinion. I paid $24 and thought that was on the steep side of things. It's a cool light but $35 is highway robbery IMO. Wait for a sale at least or look elsewhere.

Color mode is where its at!
I love the changing colors, its why I got it. It is not the brightest light, but if low light is enough for you this is perfect. Plus I can quickly put it into bright white if I need more light. Mostly I leave it in color rotation. Currently haven't re-charged it after a couple hours use every night for three nights and it going strong.

We Like Them
We have purchased four of these for personal use and to give as presents to friends. An alternative to camper fairy lights and with these you use as night lanterns when outside the vehicle. We have used them for 6 hours straight without loosing a charge. Great that they can be charged using solar or USB which ever is convenient. During travel in the day we fold them flat and lay them on our vehicle dash so the can recharge using solar as we drive. By now you can tell we like and recommend them. Cheers ringding1017

Great light! Here's how to get it out of demo mode and use it...
Since the instructions this thing came with are totally useless, and actually incorrect, here's how to use the light: Single-click to turn the light on. It will cycle through all the colours and settings, then turn off by itself. This is demo mode. To get out of demo mode: With the light on, hold the button down as long as it takes until it comes on and stays on, about 15-30 seconds. It will come on in bright white mode. Turn on colour mode: With the light on, double-click very fast. This will put it in strobe mode (cycles through the colours). Then single-click through the colours to select one. When you get to the end of the colours, the light will turn off. Turn on white mode: When you turn it back on, it will still be in colour mode. To get back to white mode, double-click very fast. Then single click through the brightnesses of white to pick the one you want. When you get to the end of brightnesses, the light will turn off. For candle mode: With the light on, press and hold the button for 3-5 seconds. I spent almost an hour trying to figure this thing out, and I had it packaged up, ready for a return, then I decided to contact Goal Zero directly to get help about how to operate this light, and they told me. I don't know WHY they don't include correct instructions on the package, manual, and website! Anyway, aside from the palaver of trying to figure out how to actually use this lamp, it is fantastic. Lightweight, solar and usb rechargeable, nice colours, lots of hanging options, very cool, etc. The only gripe is the price. I don't know whether it's individual companies or Amazon, or both, but someone is taking the mickey with these prices!

Impressive
though it is more expensive than other camping lanterns, but you get what you paid for.
