Not a Shotgun Marriage,... Sports Car Lines & Looks... Unique SWEAT Protection... Leading-Edge MINIMALIST Feature= A Winner!
After looking at my sad, growing pile of old wallets that didn't work for me any more, I've come to this conclusion: My worst wallets were like shotgun marriages,... Something caught my eye at first, but I didn't take the time to know what I really wanted, had unreal expectations, and in the end we were not very compatible. My best wallets involved first thinking about what I really wanted in a wallet, then taking some time making sure my expectations were realistic given the co$t, then after that engagement period deciding if we were compatible. It really comes down to what your particular needs are. I looked at what I wanted & decided there is NO perfect wallet that fits ALL my situations & possibilities,....BUT this Carhartt pass case model comes pretty dog gone close!I am picky, insist on quality and versatility. I get sick of looking at the same old brown or black wallets. I've had it with small dress wallets that just pack everything into a hard little knot in my pocket. I've had those small wallets made in india that have tin foil buried inside to supposedly shield your credit cards from electronic readers where somebody trying to steal your information even when the credit card is in my pocket. But they were small and cheap & didn't last.I like versatility,...so I turn to this Nubuck with it's smooth, soft tan leather on one side. Turn it over and it's a high tec textured black material framed in nubuck tan. Nice! Even the metal tin box this Carhartt Nubuck comes in is well made with a great graphic of a train on top. I use the tin box to store stuff like coins, screws or the wife can store her buttons, pins, needles, etc.. I bot a second wallet & use the tin box to store small electronics I want to protect from an EMF pulse! So the Box it comes in is a winner....& the wallet is a home run too. Here's the key. Wallets come in different shapes /sizes /features. So it depends what you want. I finally had it with the small dress wallets. All I can say is Nubuck is a soft, flexible leather & this wallet is slightly oversized vs most dress wallets I've owned in the past. I like the black patch of specialially engineered material to keep heat & body sweat from soaking the wallet. It looks nice & is an interesting feature most wallets just don't have. The patch keeps things dry and cool,...a very nice feature if you're doing physical work or in a hot humid environment. Not so much if you're in an A/C office or cold climate. Either way, that patch just looks very cool: turn it one way & you have one look; turn it over and you have a totally different look. The patch protection is always ready to do it's thing if your situation changes. The patch is fairly smooth which keeps the soft new buck leather from over sticking in the pocket. Nice. This Passcase is not designed to be a dress wallet, is slightly larger with a rougher fit and finish made less for looks (but I love the look) & more for practical durability. With my dress wallets I hate trying to dig out one of my credit cards that are packet so tightly into each card slot,...sometimes I need a pair of pliers. If my hands /fingers are sweaty my dress wallet is like trying to peal a slippery wet banana. But this Nubuck is soft & grips well, with slightly larger slots for those cards which makes it a dream to dig any card out of any storage slot in the wallet under any circumstances. Love it!Another big plus: there's enough room to store various stuff & receipts I need to keep until unloading them at home in a permanent spot. And it seems like receipts these days are bigger and bigger with a lot of advertising,... so this extra wallet space is a handy way of dealing with that junk. I like the divided money areas & the option of zippering closed the one area.Tip: one thing I've found about the zipper is I Never zip it entirely closed. By keeping it unzipped a little bit, the safety of items is not compromised but it does keep the zipper head away from the side corner and prevents an annoying little bulge. So for a smoother, less bulky over-all shape keep the zippered compartment a half inch away from the edge & your butt will appreciate it.Tip#2: If you cram your wallet full of credit cards & stuff,... and if you don't want to sit on the resulting big bulge, then just go Minimalist! That's what I do. This wallet has the versatility to be as thick or THIN as I want it to be. If I load it up with a bunch of stuff, then it's going to be thick & that's my choice. If I cut back to 4-5 cards then the bulge gets thinner. Not rocket science but it took me a few years and many wallets to figure that out!Anyway, if I want to go REALLY REALLY THIN, then I just pull out the pass case and go! Sweet!Going minimalist means using one the small, thin passcase that has my drivers license, 1-2 credit cards and that's it,,,the minimal things I need to shop, drive, run, walk, bike, jog, boat, fly, etc for a given situation. This minimalist feature is great for times I really don't need to have ALL my wallet stuff all the time: e.g. out jogging, exercising, the office, or any time I just don't want the normal bulge of my wallet and the whole boat load of stuff yet need a few c-cards & id.When I go minimalist I can put that little thing in any pocket and not know it's there. This PULL-N-Go feature is like having two wallets in one. Depending on my mood or needs, I can pocket the entire wallet with all my stuff or I can pull & pocket the skinny 2x3 inch pullout hardly 1/8th of an inch thick & light as a feather!! Great for cycling, walking around in crowds, boardroom, class room, guarding against pick pockets, airport check throughs, etc.. In other words, I can taylor this wallet for my specific needs over a very wide range of situations. I really love this pull-n-go pass case minimalist feature. One extra thing...Ever need a pen to jot a note? Instead of carrying a full size pencil /pen in a shirt pocket of pants pocket that I manage to loose or break, now I clip a tiny micro pen in the center fold of the wallet and don't even notice it's there. Has no affect on thickness at all & doesn't pressure the fold. Most dress-type wallets I've owned just don't have enough space to do this well. But in this wallet a micro pen works perfectly.I've owned several tri fold and several fossil pass port wallets which are a smaller, dressier & more $ than this Carhartt passport wallet. But I finally couldn't take the over crowding & glad to have discovered the flexibility and quality of Carhart's Nubuck leather slightly & slightly oversized Passcase model. I switched for good. Check the wallet dimensions & compare.I approach wallets like getting married: first an engagement period then maybe, marriage! When I change wallets I usually have an initial shock because it's a change from what I had. An extra half inch hear & there on wallet size does make a difference. So my routine is to give a new wallet a couple weeks to transition & if I still like it, then it's a winner!I bot a second & will buy a third & forth because good things don't seem to stay around very long at reasonable prices these days (29$ w/free ship). I figure this Nubuck Passcase wallet will always make a great gift down the road & besides,...I may just keep those metal boxes for myself!Sugg: The world has changed and wallets are not simply wallets anymore. My only sugg for improvement is that since more and more banks (for security) are putting active chips into credit cards which allow someone with a reader to simply walk by and electronically read /steal my information, sugg Carhartt put a protective foil inside this wallet to block potential thieves. If they do, it would be an absolutely killer wallet.Bottom Line: This versatile, high quality, great value, tough, feature-packed, high volume or minimalist adaptable wallet earns my top pick! Delivers most of the features I look for & then some. Before adding another wallet to your disappointment pile, get engaged to this Carhartt Passcase & give it a whirl,...love the easy Amazon return...better to break the engagement now than a divorce later! Will try to post updates if anything significant pops up down the road.

Nice suede like finish gives it a classy look
I also bought the Levi slim fit wallet and find Carhartt comparable to it. The nylon on one side gives it a unique look and may aid in sliding in/out of the pocket (may be good for carrying in front pocket when in crowded areas). I like that the passcase is removable in case you want to make it extra slim (as long as you don't forget to transfer driver license), or to use separately (holds cards on both inner sides). Zippered billfold compartment is nifty and does not add bulkiness, nor do the rivets. Keep essentials in it and it will stay slim and comfortable. Looks like very good quality and should last a long time, although will see how it cleans when it gets dirty. Don't think I'd recommend as a knock-about tradesmen's wallet as you would with their excellent clothing line.

Great Wallet
I am able to fit everything in here that I need. I put it in my rear pocket with the hinge (binding) facing up. Otherwise, it is too difficult to pull out, even when standing. Hinge up, no problem, but stays in the pocket securely. I wear Dickies five pocket work pants, the rear pockets are moved more towards the side, by the hip. That way, when I sit down, I dont feel any bulge or pulling from the wallet being in the pocket. It is tough and can handle some long term rugged use. It does run a little thick, and it is wide. I would say slightly larger than an average billfold, but still comfortable in my workpants.I really like this wallet.

great wallet, but a couple of issues
This is a great wallet. It has a zipper pocket, plenty of card spaces, and a removable sleeve for an ID, which is great when all you need is an ID and hunting or fishing license. I do have two complaints. First of all, it's kind of fat. And I only have a few cards and some photos and receipts in it. I rarely carry more than a few bills. Sitting on hard chairs and furniture sometimes hurts. My other complaint is that my jeans are turning the edges blue. This seems to have gotten worse since I got a couple new pairs of wranglers. I might try some brown leather polish on it if the problem gets worse.

Great Wallet, I am hard on them
Bought for a present for Christmas in 2015. It’s 2018 and holding up well. I am hard on wallets, and I have a lot of cards and things I carry. I am in the military and work a lot outside in my spare time. This wallet is great and holds many items I need to carry. Leather has aged a little bit no cracking and material holds up well. Buying for my 16 year old son who likes products by carhartt and he has mentioned how he likes my wallet. The fabric on the back has held up well and doesn’t absorb sweat when I am working. Pleased with this.

Started off great... Then... Wah wah wah...
Got this as a Christmas present. It's been 3 months and the back fabric side is already a mess. It's starting to unthread and come apart. Would have been better if the entire thing was leather I guess. The fabric side does make it easier to put in your pocket and pull it out. But it just doesn't hold up. I was very happy to get this wallet and it replaced a wallet I had for almost 10 years. Not looking very good when we are at the 3 month mark. I still really like the wallet. The quality just isn't there. I have noticed that a lot in Carhartt stuff as of late. Don't know if they sent their stuff overseas to be made. Possibly their quality control guy is out to lunch. Idk... But I would go for something else. I wouldn't go for this wallet a second time. Perhaps something all leather would be best.

Gorgeous Wallet. Well Made
This is a very nice wallet. I got this for my son who almost 25yrs old. He is so fussy it’s very hard to find him a gift he likes. He absolutely loved it and loved how it was set up inside. He says it’s the best wallet ever. Then my dad wanted one and he is very fussy about his wallets and usually buys very expensive wallets. But he really liked his grandsons wallet. So on his b-day I purchased one for him. And he loves loves loves it. So it’s made for all generations. LolIt’s a well made great wallet at an amazing price.

Comfortable, stylish and useful
Good wallet. Lots of room for all my cards and money. Is well made and I get complements by people when I pull it out to pay for something.Comfortable to have in both a back or front pocket (I switch between the two depending on the clothes I am wearing.Only thing I could say bad about it is that is didn't come with any money in it when I bought it :-P

so far so good with this wallet
so far so good with this wallet, havent had any problems with the nylon back as i did read others comments on it...the one thing i will say is the leather gets stained very easily and the color of you're jeans will fade on it.
