Works Perfectly!
My wife and I were down to 2 choices, the tubular barrier or this Midwest model. The tubular product would not have suited our needs because our dog's head could go through the tubular bars where he could reach seatbelt straps that he would then destroy. So we decided to go with the Midwest barrier. The installation was clear-cut and easy. For about the first week there were no rattles. But by the second week, small rattles would occur on rough roads. This was easily fixed by using small black cable ties where ever grating overlapped the base grate. There have been no rattles since. There was also a small place where the sides of the barrier smacked against the plastic window molding when going over speed bumps. This was easily fixed by using a self-adhesive, small (1/2" diameter) circular felt pad at the point of contact on both window moldings. The barrier now makes no noises what so ever. The only other "issue" that we noticed was that one of the grate clamps was in the way of the rear view visibility. Again, this was easily fixed by moving the clamp to the very top of the grate and using black cable ties where the clamp previously held the grates together. All in all I would highly recommend this product to anyone. You may need to get a few small cable ties, but they work well. Also, this barrier fits perfectly in the back of our 2009 Rav-4.

Not Perfect, But Works Well -- Video Shows Install in Subaru
My video shows how I installed this pet barrier. Vid cuts off a bit at the end, but you get the gist of the install: form up the barrier and screw the rods into place, creating pressure to hold it in place. I actually bought and installed one of these 20 years ago, and the design has not really changed -- only now the connecting brackets are plastic and not metal. A sign of the times, I guess. Adjustable to fit most vehicles with a rear area, like suvs or wagons or crossovers, though you may need to use zip-ties and other little tricks to get it to work. Install is in my 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. Note that my one CRITIQUE of this divider is that it's never 100% secure top or bottom, because it's only really squished into the space with pressure, not attached. So a clever dog could pull or push it free. In addition, the threaded rods on the bottom will likely leave dents in your floor/base of trunk area. So maybe add something beneath them for protection. But it keeps the dog in back and is simple. While not perfect, I like it a lot!

Easy assembly, well made and heavy duty enough for large dogs.
Gives good wire coverage to protect seats from puppy damage. Older dogs no problem. The threaded poles have a wing nut and a compression washer but no regular washer to protect and support the base of the pole it is inserted into. Recommend picking a couple of 5 cent washers before tightening down. I have a large full size SUV and the “wire wings” easily go from side to side without gap. To prevent the all the wing nuts from loosening due to normal call vibration and to cut down on any rattling noise, I placed double sided adhesive foam between the clam shell brackets. Those small additions made this product next to perfect to hold 4 large Shepherds in the back.

Great price, works well, but was missing parts
I purchased this for my 2002 Nissan Xterra. It fit in nicely, and I could still use my factory retractable cargo area cover. It was far less than the $160 Nissan charges for its mesh pet divider (the Nissan website says $100, but for my year, it is $160). Installing wasn't super easy, but I got it done. Definitely having a helping hand will make it go by more quickly. It rattles somewhat, but not too bad. I think if I used extra twist-ties or something similar to hold the different pieces together, I could get rid of it completely. A minor issue would be the bolts protruding toward the pet area. I am a little afraid that they could hurt my dogs should I get into a car accident or quick stop. If I turn the bolts around, then they would poke toward the head of anyone sitting in the back seat. My main issue would be the 2 missing parts. I called the number listed on the instructions afterhours and left a message that wasn't returned. I called back a few days later during business hours and got ahold of someone who took my information and said they would send them out. Although I did receive the missing parts, it was quite a while after the phone call. All in all I think its a good product, but there is room for improvement.

Complete junk
Complete junk. Poor design. Difficult to install. Wing nuts were wrong thread size and slipped on threaded post used to pressure fit gate between floor and ceiling. Ended up duct taping nuts in place, hammering a 2x4 under one post, and duct taping gate to headrests to secure it. Plastic caps fall off posts with any movement during installation. Nothing fit correctly. Looks terrible! Most frustrating POS I have ever tried to put together. Have aspirin handy. Buyer beware! **I am amending this review after two weeks. If zero stars was an option, I would give it. Almost daily, because the threaded wing nuts wouldn't tighten, the gate fell out of place. The only thing holding it in place was duct tape -- literally! The slightest jolt in the car from the road or the dog would result in the gate falling over. Eventually I bought two additional child gates and tried to wedge them against this POS to hold it in place -- nope, still fell. Then one of the cheep plastic clamps fell off and one of the metal gate panels just started swinging back and forth. Today I had enough. I ripped it out of the car and wrote off the ten or so hours I have put into this thing trying to rig it up to work as a lesson learned. It is now laying at the end of the driveway. If you want one for free, come and get it. It should be criminal to repeatedly sell something this faulty to unsuspecting buyers. Just look at all the 1 star feedback. Numerous buyers report an eerily similar experience to mine with the same issues in faulty product hardware. Amazon should force the seller to remove this item from sale. Anything short illustrates a complete disregard for its customers.

Amazing quality for the price! (Installed in a Jeep Cherokee 2014-now) Very satisfied. I use it as a safety separation between the passenger seats and the "trunk" storage. It fits perfectly. The back seats seem to be designed for this product. The grid itself is very sturdy, a lot of configurations are possible due to a very good design. Some people say that it rattles, I did not hear a single sound... except from seeing it in the mirror, it's like if it was not there! Very impressed! Simply follow EVERY steps while installing it, read the very clear, short documentation provided, do not try to figure it out by yourself, it will work! There is two sets of left and right panels (different sizes), you only need one, very well made once again. I bought rubber covers for the screws (few cents per unit), it makes it absolutly perfect.
