Bird Spider 360 Repellent 4ft

Works great so far. Hardly any birds now.

On the surface this seems to be a good idea. I've tried many ways to keep the seagulls off my sailboat. Electronis "bird repellers", scarey owl and hawk decoys, and reflective objects don't work. Strings, arranged a few inches above a surface seem to disseade the gulls from landing but are a nucence to rig and un-rig each boat use. These "spyders" should and seem to act like strings and are easier to deploy and put away. No gulls have landed on the areas covered by the spyders. Mounting them is a problem. There are not enough options offered and you will have to work out a way that keeps the upright, free of entanglement and on the boat in swells and storms without permanent, obstructice, mounting brackets. Unfortunatly this eight foot model has lost, in its first six weeks, half of its arms. They have broken off a quarter inch from the base. The four foot one, just bought, does not "turn in the wind" as promised. The actual construction needs improvement. When contacted by their site e-mail they called back the next day. The called knew only that I had e-mailed, but had no idea what I had said. After i described the problem he first said six weeks was beyond their "trial period" and thus no replacement, but offered another at his "basre price". He suggested using "crazy glue to re-attach the stainless steel wires to the plastic base"; he did not know it was held together with a nut. As I said, great idea but not well engineered. The same idea could be offered in strips for boat edges but is not.

We duct taped the product into low ceramic bowls, and filled with rocks, so they would be low to the dock. Our regular dock sitting ducks hide them with suspicion and have not been on the dock since. it is early days now, we will see how they were going forward. Our idea with the ceramic bowls was so we could move them around the dock as needed. Other items we have used, such as owl statues, etc.. Have not worked. In fact, the ducks climb to the dock and sleep right next to them. So far we are pleased, and the “spiders” look interesting on the dock.

I use this to keep terns and cormorants off the boom of my sailboat. It works. The legs of the spider are very long, which means that they flex in the wind - and i have has a problem with them breaking off at the base due to metal fatigue. That said, I can't think of anything else which would work as well to keep the birds and bird poop off the boat..

I have tried other methods without success. So far after about 2 months this seems to be working.

Purchased 2, 8 ft. spiders for a boat lift canopy on a lake. Installed these on the sand filled base from Bird B Gone. It is an absolute must to secure the base or you will lose the spider overboard in almost any wind. Neither of my spiders turned in the wind as advertised. The mounting spindle binds with the base at the bottom because the bottom of the base isn't rigid enough to hold the spider properly upright. My spiders easily flop around in the base in breezes. The spiders worked for seagulls, however they will land in any space not covered by the spiders. Had a 18 -20 mph blow between fronts and one spider broke open and dumped most of the arms into the lake. This is a poorly designed, poorly tested, unreliable product. It is overly priced and does not perform and hold up as advertised. I reached out to customer service to ask if my device is repairable, and got no response.

this does repel sea birds and keeps my solar panels clean. HOWEVER After 15 months of use the plastic pin that holds the top part broke and the top part went missing into the water. This was on a boat. The threaded plastic which is part of the molded bracket is PVC plastic with no reinforcement. This design was destined to fail. I contacted customer service and was told there is no warranty. If you must buy this or own one now I suggest that you drill a hole down the center of the pin and reinforce it with a stainless steel screw. For the money they charge this should have been done by them. Edit. After a couple of emails to Bird B Gone, including the pictures posted here they have replied that they will send me a replacement. Better results than I expected. 2nd edit. Received a new one from Bird B Gone. Same as the old one. I will reinforce the plastic shaft as I wrote about above. Since they stood behind their product I have raise my star rating to three.

Everything it advertises is correct,, just make sure you purchase one that is big enough, as that is key!

I bought two of these to stop pigeons perching on our new pergola. They worked immediately, and continue to do the job. They were easy to fit and cheaper, less visually intrusive and quicker to install than rows of spikes. Unfortunately I broke one of the bases during installation, but the company very kindly send me a free replacement base: I had to pay postage, but I was happy to do that. Service was quick and efficient. Recommended!
